Green Tea The Only Supplement For Weight Loss That Works

Updated on January 8, 2012

The Most Potent Green Tea Supplement!

Green Tea Speeds Up Weight Loss

Using green tea for weight loss has been proven through various studies to be very effective. In research carried out in Japan it has been shown that consuming green tea daily helps to burn fat and aid weight loss. Green Tea burns calories through a process known as thermogenesis, the process of heat production in organisms.

It contains powerful antioxidants called catechin polyphenols that are responsible for many health benefits. One of the health benefits is its ability to boost your metabolism. This is because it contains epigallocatechin gallate (or EGCG for short), which has been found to stimulate the metabolism and accelerate weight loss.

EGCG, along with the caffeine in green tea, stimulates the central nervous system and causes fat to be released into the blood stream for the body to use as fuel. It also provides extra energy and sheds excess water.

Even though caffeine is known to stimulate the metabolism, it’s important to note that researchers found that the combined ingredients of green tea were much more effective at this process than just caffeine by itself.

But one word of warning. Many combinations of green tea capsules have caused sleepless nights, agitation and a abnormal heart rate. So it is essential to seek out good quality supplements that do not contain additives that produce these nasty side effects.

Foods that we eat are synthesized into a substance called “triglyceride” in the liver and small intestine. It is then carried into the bloodstream to other tissues in the body. Triglyceride is used as source of energy and is necessary for physical activities and life support. Although, triglycerides are beneficial, a problem can arise when there is an excess amount of triglyceride, because it will tun into fat.

That’s where green tea comes in. Becuase it contains high amounts of polyphenols which activate the enzyme that is responsible for dissolving excess triglyceride. In the long run, this means that green tea effectively burns fat.

Appetite Suppressant

One of the hardest obstacles to overcome when trying to lose weight is dealing with the hunger pangs which can lead to snacking and overeating. Green tea is an excellent, natural appetite suppressant to combat those urges and strengthen your will power.

In the year 2000 a case study on rats revealed that green tea was indeed a natural appetite suppressant that lowered both, their food intake as well as their body weight. In fact, most studies on green tea as an appetite suppressant show a strong and positive association between green tea intake and weight loss.

Green Tea Supplements

All in all Green Tea in the form of a supplement has far better effects on weight loss than drinking Green Tea. If you were to drink green tea in order to lose weight you will have to drink copious amounts, literally drinking a cup every 15 minutes. However the supplements are more concentrated and produce greater results by taking 1 or 2 500mg capsules a day.

Finally, although green tea can help in losing weight on its own the weight loss will be minimal, so it is important that when taking a green tea supplement, you change your normal eating habits and adopt alternative healthier choices which you will continue to use even when you have lost all the weight you want. In other words, there is no benefit in taking a green tea supplement and still consume a diet a high in satuated fat, sugar and salt. But I suppose one of the pluses when taking the green tea extract is that is does help to suppress your appetite and gives you a feeling of well being that will want to adopt a healthy alternative eating regime, because you know you will benefit greatly from it.

C'mon give a try, shed that excess weight, live longer and be healthier.
