Can You Get Rid of Acne Overnight?

Acne is the scourge of a generation, a plague that does not kill, but maims and destroys and embarrasses and makes it difficult to go to proms. Can you get rid of acne overnight? Are there home remedies for acne that will do it for you? Yes! And again, YES!!

This lens is all about learning how to get rid of acne overnight, using natural tips and remedies that will shrink zits, vaporize whiteheads, and postulate those pimples into the swirling aeons from whence they came. If you're tired of looking like a teenager (no matter how old you are!) here are a few simple home remedies to help you get rid of whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples.

What is Acne?

Acne is sort of the popular term used to describe a variety of different ailments, which includes pimples, blackheads, papules, pustules, cysts, and whiteheads. It's caused when the skin's pores become clogged with dirt and debris, which traps bacteria under the skin. When the body tries to fight the bacteria, it causes inflammation which makes the pimples swell up and become red or pink.

It's not all dirt and debris either, which is unfortunate for many people. We've been led to believe that acne is primarily caused by having dirty skin, although other myths abound as well (chocolate anyone). The truth is, while these things may play a role in when and how often you break out, the answer is both more simple and more complicated.

According to James E. Fulton, M.D., a dermatologist, acne is primarily caused by hereditary problems. That's right, your acne comes from deep down inside, from your genes, and it came from your parents. That's why acne seems to run in the family so much. It's a genetic defect that affects the pores of the skin.

#1: Vitamins to Get Rid of Acne

People these days hawk vitamins for just about anything – from obesity to fertility. Whatever you want or don't want, apparently there's a vitamin for it. Of course, now that I've said that I'm going to do my own plugging: Some vitamins have proven to be very effective at reducing acne. These are vitamins such as:

-100mg of niacin, 3 times a day

-Vitamin A

-400mg of vitamin E once per day

-50mg of zinc 3 times a day

#2: Garlic to Get Rid of Acne Overnight

Garlic has tremendous health and beauty properties that reach far and above the prevention of acne. It's believed that raw garlic is the single best food for your heart, and that eating one or two cloves a day will completely eliminate any risk of heart disease.

However, this isn't a book about garlic – it's a book about acne, and garlic is pretty great for that as well. Crush a clove of raw garlic and rub the juices over the affected area, as well as about an inch in circumference around the area. You can also eat garlic every day, which should clear out any future break outs after about a month. It's believed that garlic helps purify the blood, and whether or not that is true it certainly seems to work for some reason.

If you're having trouble stomaching the garlic clove you can cut it into pieces and swallow it with a spoonful of applesauce or yogurt.

#6: Lemon to Get Rid of Acne

I don't have much to say about this one except that rubbing a bit of lemon juice on your pimples or break out spots will reduce their size fairly quickly. Use fresh squeezed lemon juice for best results to get rid of acne fast at home.

#4: Epsom Salt Bath for Acne

Epsom salt, also known as magnesium sulfate, is commonly used to relieve soreness in muscles after a hard workout. It's also commonly used as a laxative, but only if you drink it, and we're not going to do that. Epsom salt is also known to prevent acne. To use it for this, place 2 cups of Epsom salt into a hot bath and soak for at least 20 minutes. Do this twice a week and it should clear up your acne for as long as you continue doing it.

If you don't have a bathtub, or simply don't like baths, you can also mix about half a cup in half a gallon of water, soak a towel in it, and lay the wet towel over your face for 10 minutes. For best results use hot water.

#5: Orange Peel to Get Rid of Acne

Okay, let's get away from the nicely bottled remedies and back to the crazy home concoctions – which really AREN'T so crazy at all! Orange peel is rife with vitamins and minerals, giving you some of the same stuff you could get from a bottle, for a fraction of the price. Chop and pound out the peels from 2 oranges and mix it up with water. Apply it to either the whole face or just the affected areas, then rinse clean after 10 minutes.
