Unfortunately there have been many unscrupulous companies and individuals who have claimed to have the cure or the treatment for this condition only to be proven later to be scamming unwary and desperate customers. There are remedies which do remove warts including over-the-counter solutions and some home remedies which have some success.

The best wart removers contain salicylic acid which is a keratolytic or a peeling agent. This causes the outer layer of skin to shed. Salicylic acid is a topical treatment for removing warts slowly causing them to shed and shrink and eventually to disappear. The salicylic acid must be applied over a course of days, perhaps even a month until the wart shrinks up and eventually drops off. Each individual's situation will be different and each person will typically react differently to each wart remedy. Some may be more effective with some people than others and it may take more than one type of solution to get rid of a wart.

Curad Mediplast Corn Callus & Wart Remover 2 pads
Mediplast pads really work and will remove warts that other solutions won't. Each pad has a 40% salicylic acid solution on it which will dry up the wart and cause it to disappear. Cut the pad to fit over the wart being very careful to not get the pad on any healthy skin. Place the sticky part of the pad over the wart. It may help to use waterproof medical tape to help keep the pad in place. Replace the pad daily until the wart fall off itself. This may take up to two weeks depending upon the size of the wart. Mediplast pads work for all types of warts including plantar warts on feet.

How To Treat Plantar Warts At Home

Great advice on how to remove plantar warts on the bottom of your foot with 40% salicylic acid plasters. This is what I used when my daughter had these on her foot and this method worked very well. Quick and painless and works overnight, so there's no worry about having to do anything during the school day. It does have to be done every evening before going to bed and it is a good idea to cover the little piece of acid plaster with a piece of waterproof medical tape. We used the Curad Mediplast plasters and they worked extremely well. Got rid of my daughter's plantar wart in just over two weeks.

Tips on Using A Wart Remover That Contains Salicylic Acid

When using a wart remover that contains salicylic acid it is important not to get it in the mouth, or eyes or inside the nose or on the lips. It is also very important not to get the salicylic acid on the anal area or on the genitals. Never use salicylic acid on birthmarks or moles or on warts with hair growing from them or those that are an unusual color or that have red edges. Do not use salicylic acid on any areas of the body which are sunburned, wind burned, chapped, and dry, have broken or irritated skin or on open wounds. If any acid gets on these areas, wash with water immediately.

Talk with a doctor before using any product containing salicylic acid for wart removal if there is any history of the following:

- Treating a child

- Poor circulation

- Diabetes

- Liver Disease

- Kidney Disease

If there are any of these presently of if there have been any of these in the past, salicylic acid may not be appropriate for use or a dosage adjustment may be necessary or special monitoring by a health professional may be required during treatment.

The effects of salicylic acid on an unborn child are unknown so do not use a product containing salicylic acid if pregnant, could become pregnant or if nursing before talking with a doctor.

Salicylic acid should be used exactly as directed by the healthcare professional or as directed on the package. If these instructions are not clear, ask a pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them. The following are typically the steps that should be taken:

1. Clean the affected area gently with soap and water. Pat dry. Gently remove any loose skin with a clean washcloth, emery board or a soft brush and the wipe with a clean, soft dry cloth.

2. Shake the bottle of medication gently.

3. Apply a thin layer of medication to the affected areas. Allow to dry. Apply a second thin layer, if directed.

It is important to continue to use the best wart remover with salicylic acid continuously until the desired results are achieved. It may take several weeks to see results, so do not stop using the wart remover if no results are seen immediately. Continue to use the best wart remover as directed for the full amount of time directed by the healthcare professional or as directed on the package. If excessive burning, dryness, changes in the color of the skin, or irritation to the skin are experienced, talk with a doctor immediately.

If a dose of the medication is missed, apply the dose of medication as soon as it is remembered and continue on as is scheduled. Do not double up on a dose of medication. Do not ingest the medication.

Wart Removal Products

Warts are so ugly and so embarrassing, especially during the summer when we want to wear shorts with strappy sandals or flip flops. You may have tried remedy after remedy to get rid of these irritating growths, but nothing seems to work. Well, we have some solutions that are proven to get rid of warts. It may take several applications and it may time a few weeks, even a month, but they will go away. Individuals are different and one solution may work better for one person than another, so it may take trying more than one remedy, but one of these will work.

Warts are caused by the Human Papillomavirus and there is no cure. All you can do is get rid of them individually as they occur. Just because you have one does not mean you will get more. You may only ever have one and once you get rid of that one, you may never get another one.

Duofilm Liquid Salicylic Acid Wart Remover - 1/3 Oz
Duofilm Liquid Salicylic Acid Wart Remover - 1/3 Oz

Duofilm really works. 1/3 oz is more than enough to remove several warts since you only need a few drops daily. I then use a tweezers to gently peel off the dried layers of the wart each day. After about a week, the wart is pretty much gone. It takes about a week or a little more depending upon how big the wart is. The solution is a little more than 17% saliycylic acid and that's what makes this solution so effective. Just be sure not to get the liquid on any healthy skin because it will kill the healthy skin just like it does the wart. An applicator is included which is pretty neat because it is just a plastic tipped stick with no brush or anything to get all clogged up and it is really easy to clean. It doesn't drip the solution either. Just dip it into the bottle and then onto the wart. You can cover the wart with a small bandaid if you want to protect it.

Wart Stick for The Removal of Common and Plantar Warts, 3 Count
Wart Stick for The Removal of Common and Plantar Warts, 3 Count

The Wart Stick is a handy stick that provides direct treatment for all types of warts including plantar warts on the bottom of the feet. With a very high concentration of salicylic acid - 40% - this wart treatment works very quickly and is extremely effective. One very important tip, though is to be very, very careful not to get any of the treatment medicine on any of your healthy skin because the treatment medicine will kill healthy skin just as quickly as it kills the warts. In fact, what I recommend is taking a Q-tip and dabbing some of the treatment medicine on the Q-tip and THEN dabbing the treatment medicine onto the wart. I think it is much easier to keep from getting any of the treatment medicine from getting on your healthy skin that way.

This solution is very, very effective and is odorless and painless and pretty quick at drying up the warts. you can also cover the warts with a bandaid if you like, again, just be careful about getting any of the WartStick medicine on healthy skin when you are transferring the bandaid. Dependind upon the size and placement of the wart, it may take as few as a couple days or as long as a month to see the wart disappear.

H-Warts is all natural and works on warts that appear anywhere on the body. It is especially effective on plantar warts which can be so painful and tender on the soles of the feet. This solution has been in use for many years and has proven effective time and again. There is a 100% money back guarantee on this product which proves how much the manufacturer believes in the effectiveness of their solution for removing warts.

H-Warts needs to be used daily by dropping one to two drops on either the tip of the finger or on a Q-tip and then dabbed on the wart. Be very careful not to get the H-Wart solution on any surrounding healthy skin because the H-Wart solution will also kill healthy skin just as it does the wart. The H-Wart solution will gradually dry up the wart, slowly shrinking and peeling it away until it eventually disappears and does not return. The wart may be covered with a bandaid while it is being treated with H-Wart, if desired, just be careful when removing and replacing the bandaid. The H-Wart solution must be used daily and continuously until the wart is completely gone.

Well-in-Hand Herbals Wart Wonder Super Potent - 2 Oz
Well-in-Hand Herbals Wart Wonder Super Potent - 2 Oz

Wellinhand Wart Wonder is an all natural wart remedy that is applied topically every day to the wart. It is a gluten-free combination of all natural herbs and supplements and is designed to get rid of warts in the most delicate of places on the body. It dries and shrinks the warts naturally until they peel and fall off on their own. There is no acid in this formula, although there is creosote, so there may be a burning sensation when it is applied. It should be applied daily to the wart without touching any surrounding healthy skin because the solution will kill healthy skin just like it does the wart. I recommend the solution be applied first to a Q-tip and then applied to the wart in order to prevent any of the solution from touching the surrounding healthy skin.

Definitely helpful! these things stink! It's so hard to get rid of plantar warts! I documented the process on a blogger page and have before and after pics for encouragement if interested... http://stubbornwart.blogspot.com/
