It's A Green Thing

Kermit Sings "It's Not Easy Being Green"

Not only is it Kermit's mantra it's been mine too. We are all creatures of habit, and when you grow up in the Bronx being "Green" and Living Healthy is an uphill battle. Luckily me being a deadhead created change in my life that wouldn't have been likely had I not been introduced to that lifestyle.

Stewardship is also a Wiccan way of life and a concept shared by many religions; how many practice what they preach well that's another story. I guess as you hurdle toward middle-age you begin to be more philosophical; I find myself asking myself "Am I living the best life I can with the tools and circumstances given?". Rome wasn't built in a day, just try to implement one or two "Green" concepts every Earth Day and before you know it you'll be living a Greener Lifestyle.

It really amazes me to see how many products we use are petroleum based (spray air fresheners), or have phosphates (laundry detergent) and dioxins (toilet paper) in them, another killer of the Earth; for many of us these are products we use everyday. Let's face it we all suffer from consumerism in one way or another; for those of us that watch TV for every hour of shows we watch we are exposed to at least 20 minutes of commercials. We don't have to buy in; the products I'm using here in this Lens are much cheaper and if you're in the SNAP (Food Stamps) program here in the USA you can buy stuff like Lemons, Baking Soda and White Vinegar. It's up to you, you can lighten your carbon footprint on Mother Earth, just implement one thing at a time and before you know it you'll be "Green" too.

Skoy Cloth - A Paper Towel Alternative

Last year in honor of Earth Day I decided to cut down on my paper towel usage, it was getting to be an expensive habit and bad for the environment. I'm glad to say I cut down greatly, I went from using a roll every couple of days to about a roll a month; and I still have the Skoy Cloth I bought last year for Earth Day too.

Natural Recipes For Mind, Body & Soul

Facial Scrub

1 TBSP of Baking soda

A few drops of water

1 vitamin e soft liquid gel pill (optional)

*This makes a gentle facial scrub and I like to use a Rose Water Toner as a final rinse.

Lip Balm

3 teaspoons beeswax

5 teaspoons carrier oil (sunflower, castor, or jojoba)

6 or 7 drops essential oil

1 teaspoon honey, for flavor

*This is a good way to utilize the bottom of the lipstick that you were about to toss if you want to add a little color into the mix. You can add this mixture to an old cleaned tin or buy plastic tubes on eBay or from Amazon.

Lip Balm Tube, Tins and Accessories - Make Your Own

It's so easy to make your own lip balm, and it can also be a great fundraiser item for your church or a good way to advertise your web site; just print out the labels and you're good to go.

Lemons Are Great For Cleaning - Also Good For Your Health

When given a Lemon some people perceive it as a sour fruit while others make lemonade.
