Lemon Juice!

Updated on March 21, 2014

Magic Of Lemon Juice!

I was just reading an article in our local paper, The Press Journal and knew right away that it should be shared. Although they didn't call it magic, the magic of lemon juice sounded like a great title since all of the benifits to your health make it seem like magic.

Did you know that drinking a glass of water mixed with a tablespoon of real lemon juice every morning could prevent you from getting cancer? Sounds like this would either be a bunch of bull or magic doesn't it?

According to this article, "one of the largest drug manufacturers in the world", says that over twenty labratory test have been done since 1970 and it shows that this lemon extract destroys malignant cells in at least twelve types of cancer. These cancers include breast, colon, lung, pancreas and prostrate. It also says that the lemon juice regulates blood pressure, helps fight bacterial infections and has numorous other benefits to our health.

Why haven't we heard about this before? Once again, according to the article, because labratories want to keep it under wraps while they come up with a synthetic version that they can sell us.

After reading this article, I decided that the benefits of the lemon would make a good topic for a Squidoo lens. I will be doing a lot more research on this and bringing it here for the Squidoo community to check out.

Lemon Juice And Cancer

We have all heard the stories about the side-effects of chemotherapy! Well lemon juice is said to be 10,000 times stronger then Adriamycin with no side-effects.

According to these reports, lemon extract does not harm healthy cells but somehow destroys malignant cells of at least twelve types of cancer. The Press Journal lists the Institute of Health Sciences, 819 N. L.L.C. Charles Street, Baltimore, MD as their source for this information.

I know that we are bombarded with rumors about different things curing this or that, as well as stories about things that we eat or do every day causing cancer. It's at the point that many of us just shrug it off when we hear the latest, figuring that they'll come back in a few weeks and say just the opposite.

But drinking a glass of water mixed with a tablespoon of lemon juice! If there might be any truth at all in this, wouldn't it be worth doing? We know that both lemons and lemon juice have been cited for the health benefits since the beginning of time, so it sure wouldn't hurt to use it anyway and if it cures or keeps us from getting cancer, I'll give it a try.

The Other Side Of The Story

As with most of the stories that we hear, there are always two sides. My "research" didn't take to long to run across a website that doen't say that the benefits of the lemon are not true, but it does say that they "may be" highly exagerated. Once again, we don't know what we should believe, but I for one, believe that if there is any truth in the story that lemon juice will kill cancer cells, it is worth a try.

But, everyone deserves the right to read both sides of this story and decide for themselves whether they want to take the chance that this might or might not be true. While I don't want to give those with cancer a false hope, I can very easily believe that drug manufacturers would be willing to suppress the information if it meant that they could make a few more bucks. After all, look how fast the price of "name brand" drugs drop when the same drug can me generically manufactured.

Here is the link to the site that says the story about lemons and cancer is highly exagerated:

Concentrated Lemon Juice

Never take concentrated lemon juice! Always dilute it with water or use it in a reciepe! Concentrated lemon juice has a lot of acid and can cause damage to tooth enamel. Diluting it before injesting will minimize this danger.

From my research, it would appear that you get the most benefit by mixing a tablespoon of concentrated lemon juice with a glass of water and drinking it on an empty stomach every morning. If you might be constipated, using warm water with the lemon juice is said to relieve this condition.

Aside from the cancer benefits mentioned before, lemon juice has many other health benefits. It aids digestion, prevents vomiting, works as an antacid for heartburn, helps with bladder and kidney problems and the list goes on and on.
