The Gift Of Pain Relief!

Do you live with that constant "elephant in the room," pain? Do you care about someone who does?

People afflicted by Fibromyalgia or Arthritis, along with many other medical disorders, spend a large percentage of their lives in pain of varying levels. Sometimes the medications we are prescribed aren't adequate for the job and we must look to other methods of reducing our pain.

Let's take that famous "pain scale." Suppose my pain is sitting at a Level 8 right now (ouch!) and I've taken all my medications. If I take some specific actions, like using heat, cold, compression, magnets, copper therapy, accupressure massage, and/or counterirritants, not to mention distraction, I might be able to reduce that score a couple of very crucial points. That is a very good thing! I'll be honest – there have been some times when I have used ALL of these methods.

I'm a Fibromyalgia, Arthritis and chronic pain patient myself. I am only recommending items here that I already personally use or would purchase again for myself. I have been through two hip and two knee replacements and currently suffer from osteoarthritis in various locations as well as the CPPD arthritis I mentioned in my hands. For over two years I lived with the pain of two destroyed hips and knees with no help in sight, on top of my constant pain from failed back surgeries. I know about pain.

I also have extremely painful CPPD arthritis in my hands. I have learned over the years that a combination of magnets and copper does provide me with fairly quick pain relief. Luckily one of my hobbies is making jewelry. Many times I've had a thumb joint start screaming. I'll string some magnets and copper beads on wire or jewelry elastic, make a quickie ring and slap it on. Usually within half an hour the pain is gone. And it stays gone as long as I wear the ring. Same applies to my wrist and wearing magnetic/copper bracelets.

Not all methods will work for all people! It's a matter of trial and success. Keep what works, sell what doesn't as I always say. Or donate it to a good cause. Don't dwell on the failure... just move on to try something else.

There is a lot of research that shows distraction and amending one's environment can actually reduce the level of pain experienced. In my experience, this does work. I call myself the "Queen of Distraction!" I distract myself with crafts, primarily crocheting and jewelrymaking. I also love to watch murder mysteries on TV. Everything in moderation, as they say! Sometimes distraction can be as simple as playing a favorite game on my cell phone. Have you ever had a bad headache, gone to a theater to watch a movie, and the headache disappears while you're there? That's how it works. I've also heard that doing creative things interferes with the brain's ability to perceive pain signals. I've experienced that with anything creative working with my hands (unless of course it's my hands that are hurting, then all bets are off!)

One of the products I am the most excited about is "Copper Hands," light compression gloves infused with copper. I recently purchased them and am very impressed with the relief from them so far!

I have used the Cincher back brace for years, ever since my spine was ruined with a failed fusion surgery. On many days, the support from the Cincher is what keeps me walking.

I hope that you, or someone you care about, will benefit from this information! Be well...

Nothing Works For Everyone!

What's A Counter-irritant?

Well, it's something that creates a physical sensation like tingling, heat, cold, etc. When you put Ben-Gay on and it kind of has that warm tingle, that is a counter-irritant. It works by distracting you from the pain. The pain signals get confused. Bio-Freeze is a good one.
