Ripe Bananas and Anti-Cancer Substance

Bananas are good for our health and it is recommended that you should take at least one or two daily. However, do you know that a fully ripe banana produces a substance that's beneficial to our health. This substance is known as TNF (Tumor Necrosis Factor) and it has the ability to fight abnormal or cancerous cells.

As the banana ripens, you will notice that dark spots and patches will develop all over its skin. The more these dark patches and spots that it has, the higher the immunity enhancement quality that it will be. The Japanese people have been known to consume fully ripen bananas particular when they fall ill.

Based on the scientific research conducted by the Japanese scientists, it was found that TNF are known to have anti-cancer properties. The degree of the anti-cancer effect is related to the degree of the ripeness of the fruit. In another words, the riper the banana, the higher or better of the anti-cancer quality.

In an animal experiment that carried out by Professor Senji of Tokyo University, he found that among the fruits that were fed to lab mice, banana produces the best overall health benefits. Other fruits which were used in the experiment includes grape, apple, watermelon, pineapple, pear and persimmon. Banana is able to increase the number of white blood cells, enhances the immunity of the body and produces anti-cancer substance, TNF.

Moreover, according to the professor, yellow skin bananas with dark spots and patches on it are eighth times more effective in enhancing the property of white blood cells, as compares to the ones which are still green.

And so it is recommended that you should eat at least one to two bananas daily to increase your body immunity to diseases such as flu, cold, and etc. Antioxidants are one of the factors that prolong life, prevent cancer and delay premature aging process.

I have even heard that the Japanese will even consume bananas which have already turn black (the whole banana and not just with black spots and patches) when they are really sick, particular when it has something to do with cancer. I used to disbelieve this fact until I have read it myself. So don't throw away bananas which look bad as they might be the cure for your sickness. It might save your life!

    i eat banana' every day. some years ago i listened to a phone-inprogramme on radio and a doctor recommended 5lbs of rotten banana' daily to a person with a c ertain condition, i don't know what the condition was.

    Most people will remove the dark spots as you do au fait. But I'm okay with it :)

    I like ripe bananas, though I usually remove the dark spots. Ripe bananas are the best for making banana bread. I'm not sure I could eat a black banana even if I knew for a fact that it would prevent or cure cancer.

    I really didn't knew that ripe bananas were so beneficial till now . I usually throw them in garbage if they get those black spots because they look like not worth eating. But not from now onwards. This was a really helpful information

    You are right. I do read somewhere saying the banana with black spots are supposed to be good. Anyway, eating fruits everyday is definitely beneficial. Nice hub about bananas!

    mulberry1: Make it into pudding is a great idea, but I'm not sure it that will change the banana's contain.

    Jlbowden: Most hypermarkets and supermarkets would normally pack bananas with black spots and patches and sell them cheaply (reduce to clear) and what they don't know is that these bananas are great for health. I normally go for this want, not because of cheapo by for health. And thanks for the vote, Jlbowden! :)

    Great information in reference to banana's. I didn't realize that near rotten banana's had TNF effects in warding off cancers. Very interesting medical info. that I voted useful and when other's read your article, I believe they will be eating more brown banans's as well. Thanks for sharing once again.

    I eat a few bananas each week and they usually have brown spots but I would have to really work hard to eat them when they get extremely soft. Maybe I could make pudding with them but that's probably the only way I could do it. Good info.
