There are plenty of stationary exercise equipment, each focusing on a particular area of the body to tone. But if your looking for a for a complete cardio vascular workout, taking a closer look at the Schwinn A40 Elliptical Machine could be worthwhile.

What To Expect and Not

For starters, don’t expect all that you would like to find from a thousand dollar plus elliptical trainer mainly because it isn’t there. But what we can say is that this machine has a very sturdy platform for fitness buffs to work on with enough pre-programmed settings for maximum use.

If space is a concern, the Schwinn A40 elliptical trainer would suit you fine. It is compact and does not require much room to use it effectively. Aside from having it compact, it does not emit much noise which is ideal for those living in condo units or apartments.

Schwinn has always considered the end user in developing their products. Comfort and stability is what the Schwinn A40 provides to it’s users during work-out. One particular reason why the machine is effective is because of its ability to mimic the natural steps of a person without any awkward positions.

The only restriction we can find in the A40 model is the deficiency of stride length. While a lot of other elliptical machines come with 18 inches or more of stride, the A40 model provides only 17 inches. This works fine for normal to medium size users. But for a much taller users, it may be a little restricting for them to use.

Resistance Settings and Pre-set Workouts

The Schwinn A40 elliptical trainer provides 6 pre-programmed workout settings that you can select from. Each level providing enough energy to burn calories effectively. It also has a manual quick start setting if you wish to just walk on your own pace.

As the console provides easy access for the user to adjust settings, there are 8 levels of resistance from which you can select from. This can be more than enough for beginners or moderate users. However, for those looking into heavy workouts, you may find it not enough to satisfy your needs.

The user console of the A40 is very basic and easy to operate. All information that is needed for your workout is provided within a single console. The only drawback to the user console is the difficulty to clearly read the information because of the LCD screen that it uses.

LCD displays are often difficult to read because of the glare of lights or the angle of which the viewer sees the display from. Users often have to adjust their position to be able to clearly see the information on the LCD screen.

The compact factor of the A40 is definitely an advantage as it can be easily transported or stowed away. For an elliptical machine that can provide this much with a compact size, it is an amazing piece of exercise equipment. Its dimensions are:

Width – 23”

Height – 64”

Length – 59”

Weight – 91 lbs.

Weight Capacity – 275lbs.

The Schwinn A40 Elliptical Machine 2013

Established athletes and well toned users will certainly be looking for heavy resistance elliptical trainer which the A40 does not provide. But if you’re a beginner or an intermediate user, the A40 elliptical trainer can be the ideal model for you to use.

Requiring minimal space to set-up and the features that are included, the Schwinn A40 Elliptical Machine will benefit a lot of health conscious people falling under the bracket mentioned.
