Updated on January 21, 2016

They laughed at me for using a derma roller, and now they are all using it !

My Experience With Derma Rollers

Like many people I have suffered from acne from many years. Finally in my thirties my skin began to clear but I was left with a constant reminder of my past. I

had scars and indents across my face and especially on my cheeks. Even though I was happy that the acne had cleared I still felt terribly self conscious about my appearance.

I would try just about anything to try to heal my damaged skin. Among the things I tried were the following:

  • Jessner Peel
  • TCA Peel
  • Glycolic Peel
  • Salicylic Peels
  • Micro Dermabrasion
  • Retinol

None of these treatments made one bit of difference except to lighten some brown spots but to my dismay the scars were still there.

In 2006 while browsing on eBay I came across a device called a dermaroller and it literally changed my life.

My First Roller - The Novaderm Roller

That first roller that I found was called the Novaderm Roller. It was the first derma roller to come to market and as such was quite expensive at a whopping $150. Still it was one of the best buying decisions that I ever made.

To my surprise the Novaderm Roller simply worked. Eight week after starting the treatments I saw a 50% reduction in scarring. After four months I saw a 90% improvement in my scar indentations.

This was achieved with the first dermaroller on the market with only 50 needles! Imagine the results with a newer model with over 500 titanium needles!

My Roller Collection

Be careful when choosing a derma roller they aren't all created equal some may even damage your skin. A cheap dermaroller may have bent or rusted and damaged needles this could a serious skin reaction.

When looking for a dermaroller remember that titanium needles are better than steel because they are harder to damage and less prone to rust. Whenever using a dermaroller be sure to follow the directions carefully to insure that it is completely safe.

Customer Beware

If you're paying over $40 for a dermaroller than you're getting ripped off!

How does Derma Roller Work?

User Testimonials

There are hundreds of positive user reviews on Below are several user testimonials for you to enjoy.

"I've been very impressed with the results from this dermaroller. I love that it has the 3 interchangeable heads. I use them all. It's made significant improvement in the lines on my face. I'm in my 30's and I'm just starting to get wrinkles so I'm hoping I will look young much longer due to this product.

I love it even more for the improvement it's done to my three c-section scars. They have been significantly reduced already. I'm excited to see what it looks like after I've used it even longer. I was a little afraid to try it at first but it's really easy to use and it doesn't hurt. If feels more prickling.

However if you're really sensitive you can ice down the area first to help numb it and then it really shouldn't bother you. I highly recommend this product for wrinkles and for scars!"

"I am a 40 years old woman, fine lines started appearing on my face, and pigmentation spots are all over my face. I heard about Derma Roller about a year ago. I learned all goodness about this little magic roller. But once I knew it was $100. My heart sunk.

A few weeks ago, I came across to this Youyaner Detachable Derma Roller Bundle Kit. It is less than $30. I ordered it right away. The bundle kit arrived promptly on the weekend with a 5 pages very helpful and important information for user. I read it all thoroughly and then started my first treatment.

The pain was just very mild, not really big deal. There was little blood but it was expected. The redness lasted a day but after that, my skin started to heal. I applied vitamins serum and 100% collagen cream after the treatment. I stopped doing any cleaning housework during this time, just to keep myself away from dirt :P . Very good excuse!

3 days after, my skin was smoother and tighter. Started on the 5th day, I noticed the glow of my skin. I was longing for it for long time. After a week, today, I can see the pigmentation spots are lightened up. I have one cat scratch scar on my cheek since childhood. It is looking better now.

I am amazed with the result with just 1 treatment so far. Very much worth the price! I definitely recommend with you all!"

A Word Of Caution

I've tried many different rollers over the years. Although my scarring has improved and I'm satisfied with my overall appearance. Derma rollers are great for fine lines, wrinlkes, and even stretch marks. I used my dermaroller once every eight weeks.

There are many dermarollers selling for over $40 and made with surgical steel needles. These are outdated rollers. Surgical steel needles can bent and rust easily. Also, dermaroller shouldn't cost that much!

There are many sellers giving misleading information in order to sell more products. Do not believe anyone who claims that dermaroller can do the following:

  • Breast Enlargement
  • Completely No Side Effects
  • Cure Rosacea
  • Completely Fade Sagging Skin
  • Completely Fade Cellulite
  • Weight Loss
  • Cure Acne

Important Note: Derma rolling can cause side effects including redness and dryness if overly used. Microneedling treatment does work, but do not over do it!

Youyaner Complete Derma Roller Kit

The dermaroller I currently use is called the 540 Advanced. It the most up to date design with interchangeable rollers heads. It built with titanium needles that don't rust or bend easily.

The different roller heads are great for treating different areas of the face easily like around the eyes. The quality of this roller is beyond amazing, I recommend to all my friends!

It also comes with a 7 page How-to guide and a "maximum strength" numbing cream with 5% Lidocaine as active ingredient.
