What Can Super Foods Do?

Anticancer and Anti aging

Most superfoods are proven and some are currently studied by experts with respect to its ability to prevent cancer through the remarkable effects of its antioxidants and anti inflammatory nutrients. These antioxidants found in superfoods are believed to inhibit pro inflammatory agents which greatly contribute to the development of many types of cancer. Certain phytonutrients and compounds in superfoods, lycopene in tomatoes for instance, can slow down the growth of cancer-causing tumors . Aside from their antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties, their overall action in the body helps reverse the effects of aging and also prevent the development of age-related illnesses including heart disease, atherosclerosis, arthritis and other degenerative disorders. Antioxidants fight oxidative stress and scavenge free radicals in the body before it can damage our cells which will lead to manifestations of early signs of aging. Super foods will not just prevent illnesses but helps us maintain a young and beautiful body as well, sine they come with remarkably healthy effects in the skin, hair and bones.

Superfoods Fight Inflammation

Every superfood showcases different array of health benefits. However, superfoods have one thing in common and that is the ability to inhibit or slow down inflammatory processes in the body. Although each superfood executes this anti-inflammatory action in different mechanisms, it will always end up leaving good effects in the body. Inflammation whether chronic or acute, is destructive to the body and may trigger the occurrence of life-threatening health problems. Some of the most deadly and destructive diseases including atherosclerosis, arthritis, diabetes, Alzheimer's and even cancer are precipitated by inflammation within cells, tissues, colon and arteries. Subsequently, this suggest that a diet rich in antioxidant and anti inflammatory rich foods is highly required to protect the body and maintain health.

Superfoods provide us with massive amounts of anti inflammatory phytonutrients. Common examples are the flavonoids in onions, carotenoids in brightly coloured fruits and vegetables, and anthocyanins in berries. These are under a broad category of nutrients called phytonutrients which provide us with exemplary anti inflammatory and antioxidant benefits. Phytonutrients are not the only compounds that are able to fight against inflammation, omega 3 fatty acids in fish, flaxseeds and nuts are able to do so too. So make it a habit to eat fish like salmon or tuna and then have a serving or two of superfood fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. Through this, you can be assured that you're protected against any kind of inflammation.
