Adopting a healthy lifestyle is very important, not only do you enjoy proper health in your young and old age but you also remain physically fit as well. Many of our elders stumble, limp, and require the use of a clutch, wooden or human support to get here and there because the lack the necessary physical strength needed to carry themselves. Staying physically fit limits the the need to be dependent on others and one can continue to enjoy the many wonders of life.

In order to maintain fitness, a certain lifestyle must be adopted. This includes eating right and taking care of your body physically, that is, exercising regularly. Ask yourselves these questions and you will get an idea how healthy you are.

  • Do you eat healthy such as vegetables and follow a proper diet?
  • Do you drink lots of water?
  • Do you exercise regularly?
  • Are you getting enough sleep?

If yes is not the answer for even one of these questions then you should think about what you eating and what you are not doing. The saying “you are what you eat” is true. A healthy life style is not only maintained by eating right, there are other factors as well which contribute to the overall health of the human body and one of these important factors in exercise.

I am going to share some tips that you should follow which might help in changing your lifestyle for the better by following certain set of rules.

Healthy Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It is essential to have your daily dose of vitamins and minerals, not in the form of tablets or any other medication, which many usually take when rushing to work, but consuming healthy food products. Breakfast kickstarts the metabolism and increases the energy level of the body, all of which is important for a starting a great day. It is better to consume something which will make you active such as:

  1. an apple
  2. tea
  3. chocolate milk
  4. fresh fruits

Drink Lots Of Water

Water is an essential part of the human body, the average human body consists of 50% - 60% of water. Drinking water makes you fresh, quenches thirst, keeps your blood pressure in check. According to research drinking water early in the morning is beneficial for the body. It helps in:

  1. flushing the system
  2. improving digestion and constipation
  3. keeping your skin fresh

and many other things as well.

According to research, your mood effects your day. Thing about it yourself, what happens to you when you are happy, angry, in a state of depression. You are your own best judge and not one can properly explain how mood swings will affect your daily routine. I am sure no one wants to be in a state of rage and depression most of the time, happiness is the key to success, so always have a smile on your face.

Do Good

Do good and good will come to you. You might be wondering how can being good contribute to a better lifestyle. Well, if you do good, there is a sense of achievement and motivation. For e.g. performing good at office, results in praises from your boss, which in turn leads to a motivation and there can be chances of a bonus. If you help someone in need, you have contribute to the society, that sense of achievement and happiness will lift your spirits and you will enjoy a good day ahead of you.

Take Care Of Your Posture

If you are one of those who sit in front of a computer screen all day long or have 9-5 desk job welcome to world of bad sitting posture and back aches. Sitting for quite a number of hours a day tends to have negative effects on the human body. For one, if you are sitting all day long there is definitely a high chance you are not taking care of your posture. People are so much engaged in their work that they do not realise that they are slouching or sitting in hump back position which is not good for the back and causes back aches. A simple cure for this way, try to sit of straight, this may not be easy to do, so an alternative and necessary solution for all the desk workers out there is taking a five minutes break after an hour or so and get up from your seat and stretch your legs. Taking a break every now and then tends to straighten the back and correct the posture.


Exercise is one of the important key factors which leader to a better health. Sitting like a couch potato all day and not exercising tends to have consequences. Some of which are being over-weight, high calories and cholesterol, weak muscles and immune system. According to the US department of health and services, if you do not exercise regularly, you have a greater chances of facing numerous diseases. You do not have to be a Mr. Muscle Man, all you have to do is to take part in some sort of activity that involves fat burn. Participating in your favourite sports in one of the best way to burn that extra fat. You will have fun and stay physically fit at the same time. Pretty cool, right? The importance of exercise has a major impact on the human body.

  1. It strengths the weak and flabby muscles
  2. Improves stamina
  3. Get rids of belly fat
  4. Improves posture
  5. Strengthens the immune system

There are a lot of disadvantages if one does not eat right and exercise regularly.

Okay, so now that you are aware that following a healthy schedule and exercising regularly are key factors for a better health, it is now time to actually put this this life style in working mood. Cutting down on junk and high cholesterol food and engaging in regular exercise is all that you need.

Junk food is the number one root cause and unfortunately, many people do not take care of themselves and stuff their stomachs with unhealthy snacks whenever they feel like, without even taking time into consideration. For e.g. mid-night snacks. According to studies, it is said that mid-night snack is an addiction and if not controlled can have a negative effect on the human body. The human body will wear and tear over time and the continuous gobbling of unhealthy food items will ruin the internal system of the body. This will not only have an effect on the strength and muscles but also the internal working system. Did you know many people suffer from various diseases because they don’t eat right? . Heart, liver, stomach, kidney, obesity etc. are just some of the many common diseases which majority of the people are facing.

  1. Weight gain: Late night tit-bits leads to high calorie intake if you consume high calorie food such as cookies, ice-cream, soda, potato chips etc.
  2. Sugar level: If you are not eating healthy at night, then chances are that you will have a high blood sugar level in the morning.
  3. Lethargy: Late eating + high calories food products + not getting enough sleep = Lethargy. By definition lethargy is a state of tiredness, weariness, fatigue, or lack of energy, which can be accompanied by depression, decreased motivation, or apathy.

If you are a night owl then you need to address this issue of yours and fast. Here are a few pointers that can help you get started:

  1. Late movies, lead to late snacking, stop watching Game of Thrones and do yourself the favour of going to bed early.
  2. Fill you fridge with healthy food items. If you can’t stop this bad habit of yours, you can at the least fill your fridge with quality food instead of junk food.
  3. Try to sleep early.

The night is for sleeping not for snacking, so in order to rid this bad habit of midnight craving, think about changing your life style for a better health.

Following these tips will get you on the right track and you will be able to feel the positive changes taking place in your body. There is just one downside to this, you have to follow this routine, turning your back towards this is saying hello to the unhealthy lifestyle which you worked so hard to avoid.
