Tips to Lose Weight and Stay Healthy

Updated on September 24, 2012

Many people suffer from being overweight, and this problem does not affect only looks, but more important it affects health and productivity of the person. Excessive fat can cause health complications such as heartburn, stroke, diabetes, cancer, and many more serious conditions. All these reasons make it necessary to burn fat and get rid of the extra weight, but the right way to do this should be to do it in a healthy way that burns fat and builds muscles and raise immune system levels. Every body wants to know how to do this.

What you need to know first is that if you want to be slim and healthy, you have to make it a way of life. You have to choose what to eat, how to cook it or the best way to make it tasty for you. Here are some tips to help you lose weight in a healthy way:

Food is an important factor that you have to watch to reach your weight loss goal while being the healthy one that you dream about. Plan your shopping list with foods that help you lose weight such as spinach, oatmeal, brown rice, and sweet potato. And never forget green salad. Studies and the experience of many people showed that eating about five times a day will help you lose weight and become more healthy, because when you eat many times you do not get real hungry, so you do not eat a lot (especially if your meals are prepared carefully).

Water is very important whether you're overweight or slim, because it cleanse the body from inside, which has many benefits at cleaning your system waste, and that helps cure a lot of medical cases, and getting rid of this waste also helps at losing weight. And certainly all this shows on your skin, hair, and your overall look. So drink as much as you can, carry a bottle of water with you everywhere, and try to drink at least 2 liters, more is better of course.

Exercise is essential in achieving your goal, you should make it a fixed part of your life, you can choose from many different ways to do it like doing it at home, going to the gem two or three times a week. And of course you can choose what you like to do best, if you like walking, running, swimming, and so many other choices.  You decide, but keep in mind that you've got to do it.  Start with little things that you can do, like parking your car away from your work or your destination and walking the rest of the way, or dancing to your favorite music and songs (even if you're alone at home), and so on.  You decide what is best for you.

Keep a Journal about what foods you eat, how much, and about your exercise. And of course about the pounds you're losing weekly. This will help you know your body needs and will motivate you to continue. But remember to set realistic goals, you should not lose a lot of weight in a short time, 5 to 7 pounds a week should be your maximum.

So, remember to eat the right foods, exercise as much as you can, drink plenty of water to get the fast results you want and to discover how good you can look and feel.
