Just like protein bars, protein shakes are used by many weight trainers, fitness instructors, athletes and people trying to lose weight, protein shakes add extra protein to their diet before and after exercising.

Over the last decade protein shakes have become increasingly popular and their ingredients are now stocked by a number of stores and online shops.

Protein shakes can be purchased ready-made, to buy these you usually have to visit a specific nutrition outlet but you can now purchase all of the products online.

More popular however is the purchasing of protein powders, when mixed with either water or milk these powders create a protein shake, similar to the ready-made products.

We have complied a list of top rated protein shakes and put them into a voting system for you to rate the protein shakes you like the best.

1. Go to amazon.com and type into the search bar the name of the product you would like to see added to the list

2. Select the product, this will open a new page, copy the URL - address at the top of the page (in your browser)

3. On this page under the top 50 list it says "add to this list" click on the link and a box will open simply paste the URL into the box.

That's all you need to do, If you are not a member of squidoo or don't want to use amazon just put your suggestion in the comments box an we will add it to the list.

With so many protein powders and shakes on the market we have listed the top rated protein shakes available today.

These include:

Whey concentrate protein shakes - this is the most basic protein shake available. Most of the cheaper protein powders bought straight off the shelf contain whey concentrate protein. These shakes are ideal for beginners who do not want to be left feeling out of pocket.

      Great little article but as has been said before protein supplements vary wildly in their protein levels. Also, it is important to note that a lot of protein shakes are sold as "meal replacements" and while this may be the case, the incorrect protein shake will cause significant spikes and then falls in insulin which could lead to snacking between meals (Thus contridicting the "meal replacement" theory) www.refreshyourself.co.uk
