Unreal Candy Unjunked Review | The Best Chocolate Candy Without Corn Syrup

Updated on June 13, 2014

I Finally Found Delicious Candy Without High Fructose Corn Syrup

I've been meaning to review Unreal Candy Unjunked for quite some time now, but I've been too busy stuffing my face with yummy treats to get to the computer. Time to hide the scale and bust out the sweat pants.

I'm kind of a health food junkie. I say "kind of" because I occasionally think that I need a large container of french fries from McDonald's or a greasy slice of Domino's pizza. The urge doesn't strike often, but when it does, I just kinda go with the flow. Overall though, we're very healthy eaters at my house.

Candy is pretty nasty these days. Most brands are filled with artificial colors and flavors, weird ingredients nobody can pronounce, partially hydrogenated oils, and a ton of high fructose corn syrup. Yuck.

I used to buy those expensive organic candy bars that cost like $5 at the grocery store. I still do sometimes and think they're absolutely delicious, but all-natural candy bars aren't always an option for a single mom of three who's ballin' on a budget.

That's what I used to think, at least. One day I was meandering through the aisles of Target with my babies, looking at cute things I couldn't afford, when I saw it: A giant shelf filled with healthy candy bars. Just kidding - "healthier" candy bars. Not healthy. Candy is never healthy. Remember that. That's your nutrition lecture for the day.

But back to the Unreal Candy Unjunked discussion we were just having. Okay, so this shelf was filled with them, and they were cheap! I'm talking less than $5 for a bag filled with peanut butter cups or M&M-like candies. Oh, it was my lucky day. I tossed a bunch of bags into my cart as my two-year-old clapped his hands excitedly and screamed, "Treat!!!!!!!".

You're probably dying to know what I thought about all of the different varieties of Unjunked. Fine, I'll stop rambling and get on with the review already. You're welcome.

Unreal Unjunked Un77 Review

Peanut Butter Cups Minus the Junk

I don't believe in saving the best for last. That's why Unjunked Peanut Butter Cups are the first product I'm reviewing. If you only have room in your budget for one candy without artificial colors or flavors, go with the Un77.

I have a peanut butter obsession. I put peanut butter on waffles, fruit, and of course toast. I eat it straight out of the jar. It's delicious on noodles. I pour a jar of all-natural peanut butter into the batter each time I make homemade fudge.

Un77 satisfies my peanut butter craving nicely and doesn't leave me with the headache I get from eating Reese's. Well, the headache I used to get. I no longer buy Reese's.

Each delicious peanut butter cup is coated in silky milk chocolate and filled with smooth, creamy peanut butter. There are no GMOs or scary-sounding ingredients in the Un77 peanut butter cups. These tasty treats don't leave any sort of funky aftertaste or overpower you with additives. Oh, I just love these peanut butter cups. I want one right now, actually.

Are you hungry yet? You should be.

Review of Unreal Chocolate Caramel Nougat Bar Un5

I'll be honest: I think the Unreal Chocolate Caramel Nougat Bar is nasty. To be fair, I have to admit that this is probably because I hate Milky Ways. I love caramel, but I am not a fan of nougat without nuts. Never have been, probably never will be.

My daughter, however, thinks that the Un5 is the tastiest thing she's ever tried. She loves these healthier Milky Way-type bars and begs for one each time we go to Target. Santa and the Easter Bunny both got in on the action and hooked her up with some Unreal bars for the holidays, and my two-year-old definitely helped himself to a few.

I have only tried this bar once, so I don't personally have much feedback on the taste. I just remember thinking that I didn't like it because it wasn't the type of candy that I typically enjoy. It tastes like a Milky Way bar, minus all that nasty junk that's in one. If you like soft nougat, chewy caramel, and rich chocolate, you will enjoy the Unreal Chocolate Caramel Nougat Bar. My daughter wanted me to mention one more time that it is HER favorite and that you should take HER advice and try one. Kids these days, I tell ya. :)

Feedback on Unreal Chocolate Caramel Peanut Nougat Bar Un8

If you love Snickers, you'll love the Unreal Chocolate Caramel Peanut Nougat Bar. I was pleasantly surprised by how filling these tiny little things are. I ate one, and my body was like, Okay, no more. I'm guessing it has a generous amount of protein in it or something. I will check the package next time I buy some and report back with my findings.

The caramel in an Unreal Chocolate Caramel Peanut Nougat Bar is delightfully chewy. I like to eat the chocolate off of each side, then eat the caramel from the top. I'm not sure why I can't just bite into a candy bar like a normal human being, but whatever. The caramel is thick and chewy, not runny and soft. I like caramel in general, so I really don't have a preference. All I know is that this candy bar tastes delicious.

I enjoy the way the layer of nuts crunches as I bite into it with the nougat. I don't like things that are too soft. Well, except the peanut butter cups. I freaking love those.

These tasty little bars of goodness have less sugar and fat than the granola bars that I used to eat. I snack on one whenever I need a pick-me-up or have to keep my energy levels high for a late-night project.

Unreal Candy Coated Chocolate Un41: My Thoughts

I hate M&Ms. I always felt like the weird kid in class when I was younger because they just tasted so bad to me. I grew up eating European chocolate thanks to my grandma, an incredible woman who came here from Germany to provide a good life for her children. Fake flavors and colors aren't as common in Germany as they are in the United States, so I grew up thinking that Americans just didn't have access to the same good chocolate as Europeans. It wasn't until high school that I learned that Americans just enjoy eating a lot of "food" that isn't really food.

I wasn't expecting to like Unreal Candy Coated Chocolates. I still had that dislike for M&Ms buried deep in my mind, and it made me hesitant to try the Un41. I shouldn't have worried, because Unreal Candy Coated Chocolates are absolutely wonderful. There's no aftertaste and no obnoxious sugar headache. Even people who swore they'd never eat "that stupid healthy stuff you always have at your house" come over and eat these. We keep them in a candy bowl on our counter, and they were also a big hit during our Easter egg hunt this year.

If you think you can't taste the fake crap found in M&Ms, here's my challenge: Eat five M&Ms. Drink a cup of water. Eat 5 pieces of Unreal Candy Coated Chocolate. Tell me, after doing that, if you still think that M&Ms taste good. I triple-dog dare you.

Unreal Candy Coated Chocolates

Unreal Candy Coated Chocolate are also available with peanuts. Try them both and find your personal favorite. I like the ones without nuts best.

A Few Other Things You Should Know About Unreal Unjunked

Unreal didn't pay me to write this review. I follow them on Facebook and Twitter, and I'll probably go share this on their page. However, they have no clue that I wrote this. These are all my opinions. I don't want you to miss out on trying some delicious candy just because you think I'm getting paid by Unreal. Unreal does not cut me a check for talking about how much I love the peanut butter cups and candy-coated chocolates - although I'd be happy to give them my address if they wanted to. Just kidding.

Also, Unreal is a small company that is growing quickly. If you email them, it might take a bit to receive a response. I emailed them once and got all worried when I didn't hear back from them within a few hours because that's what I was used to from emailing bigger companies. The staff is all very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They also post some awesome stuff on Facebook. I like that the company has a sense of humor.

If you've made it through this entire review with craving some Unreal candy, I'm impressed. You have way more self-control than I do. Go try one of the candy bars already and let me know what you think. I'll be here. Well, unless I'm changing diapers or helping with homework or cleaning my house. You know how it goes.

Update: I'm Panicking

I love buying Unreal candy from my local Target. I went to get some yesterday, and it was all on clearance. Uh oh. I'm a Target clearance junkie, and clearance often means that a product is getting discontinued. Hopefully that's not the case. Maybe Unreal just plans on changing their packaging or something. Maybe the expiration dates were rapidly approaching. Who knows.

Target, if you're reading this, please don't get rid of Unreal Unjunked candy! I love that stuff and so do my kids. We will be very, very sad if you discontinue Unreal.

Okay, panic mode over. You are free to get back to enjoying your day.

Find Unreal on the Web

Unreal usually has some cool stuff online. Visit the company's website to learn how Unreal got started. I enjoyed reading the story about the guy's son. Very cute!

Unreal is also on Facebook and Twitter.

Hold on to your Unreal candy- loving hats! I discovered that my local Dollar Tree store now carries this brand! And it's not the snack size version either- I'm talking the big 10.7 oz bags of the candy coated chocolates for $1. I bought every bag on the shelf!
