Weight Loss Food To Curb Appetite And Burn Fat
Diet Plan That Works
You can lose weight and curb your appetite! Not only that but you will burn fat with a good diet plan. I have found a tried and true plan that really works. I have lost weight and kept it off and want to share some tips with you.
There have been different points in my life when I needed to drop a few pounds. In my younger years, it seems like I just cut back drastically on all food until I could fit into my jeans. After achieving the desired affect, I would go back to my regular eating habits. It wouldn't take long, however, before I would gain those few pounds right back.
After having my third child, that yo-yo affect and unhealthy eating were catching up with me. I found that I was up twenty pounds from when I first got married. At that time, if I tried to cut back on eating, it just made me think about food more and I would end up eating more yet.
This went on until I was up yet another ten pounds. I now had to get serious. I knew I couldn't just cut back from eating and a lot of the diet plans didn't really appeal to me. The first thing I did was enroll in an exercise program and then I began studying foods. I wanted to be able to fuel my metabolism which seemed to have slowed considerably. I also needed to have more energy to be able to stick with my new exercise program and I wanted to stay full longer.
I didn't give up any foods but I did add some good foods to my diet that I had been either totally lacking or getting very little of. I also learned to substitute whole grain breads, pasta and rice for anything white. Luckily, I like all of the foods that are good for weight loss, I just needed to get way more of them. Here is a list of some great weight loss foods that I like:
- whole grain breads, pasta and brown rice
- oatmeal and granola
- sweet potatoes
- beans: black beans and garbanzo are my favorites
- broccoli, brussel sprouts, aspargus and salad greens
- tomatoes, celery, bell peppers, onions, cucumbers and zucchini
- chicken breast, salmon and venison
- grapefruit, apples, blueberries, strawberries, oranges, grapes and cantalope
- almonds, sesame nuts and pistachios
- non-fat yogurt and skim milk
Fruits, vegetables and grains contain lots of fiber to fill you up and boost metabolism. All of the foods listed are excellent choices and are loaded with beneficial vitamins, calcium or protein. Protein items are chicken, fish, venison and nuts. Non-fat yogurt and skim milk and broccoli provide you with enough calcium to fight fat. Grapefruit is a powerhouse for cutting fat and boosting metabolism.
What I found out was that after eating all of the good foods for a while, I didn't even want the cookies or cheese or greasy burgers much anymore. I still do eat the cookies and cheese but I physically can't eat too much of them. A little of them goes a long way now. Instead of the rule being high fat foods with a salad leaf thrown in here and there, now the rule is healthy foods with a fatty food thrown in once in a while.
I've never gone into this depriving myself of anything. I simply added to my diet lots of healthy food which didn't leave a lot of room for anything else - I didn't want anything else.
I started this seven years ago and lost all of my weight within two years. I've kept it off now for five years without fluctuating a bit. I still enjoy desserts and steaks and coffee drinks occassionally but still eat the good weight loss foods on a regular basis.
I will give you a list of some of my favorite weight loss foods and include some recipes that may be helpful as well. Once you start to eat these, you will notice a difference and enjoy watching the weight come off!
Almonds are a great weight loss snack food. If you are like me, you like to have something to crunch on every now and then. Chips do absolutely nothing for you other than fatten you up. Almonds on the other hand, satisfy your hunger with just a small amount. They have a high fiber content, which fills you up and keeps you satisfied. But that's not all, they also are a great source of protein and vitamin E Protein is what gives you energy and Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant
Just a one ounce serving is all you need of almonds, which contains 170 calories. I like to sprinkle them on a yogurt parfait or just eat them plain.

Green vegetables are another high fiber, low carbohydrate and low calorie food that keep you full longer. Vegetables like leafy salad greens, spinach, kale, broccoli, and brussel sprouts are loaded with vitamins and minerals too so what you are putting into your body is working for you instead of against you. When you have more energy, you are going to feel like being more active, which in turn burns calories.
I love to eat a salad topped with onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers - more good weight loss vegetables. Add some sesame nuts, garbanzo beans and a little vinagerette dressing and you have a great meal!
Broccolie-Rice Recipe: I like this recipe because it uses brown rice which is another great weight loss food. Brown rice is high in fiber and a much better alternative than white rice.
- 3/4 cup water
- 3/4 cup instant brown rice, uncooked
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 1/2 (10 3/4 oz.) can one third less salt cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup frozen chopped broccoli, thawed
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup (1.3 ounces) shredded 40% less fat Cheddar cheese
Bring water to a boil in a medium saucepan; add instant brown rice, chopped onion, and chopped celery. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer five minutes. Remove pan from heat; stir in soup, chopped broccoli, and salt.
Cover pan, and let stand five minutes. Stir in shredded Cheddar cheese. Serve immediately.

Chicken Breasts With Fresh Tomato Sauce:
- 4 boneless chicken breast halves
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 teaspoons olive oil, divided
- 1 minced garlic clove
- 1 minced small shallot
- 2 1/4 cups seeded diced tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
Place chicken in a large shallow dish, sprinkle with lemon juice, salt and pepper. Cover and set aside.
Heat 1 teaspoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until hot. Add garlic and shallot, saute two minutes or until tender. Add tomato and chopped basil, reduce heat, and simmer five minutes. Pour mixture into electric blender, cover and process until smooth.
Heat remaining 1 teaspoon olive in skillet over medium heat. Add chicken and cook five to ten minutes or until browned, turning often. Pour tomato mixture over chicken and cook until thoroughly heated.
Spoon tomato sauce onto a serving platter and arrange chicken on top of sauce.
