Thinning Hair- Women

Updated on March 11, 2010

Ok so when I initially wrote this hub I was under the impression that I was just randomly losing my hair. Thought it was stress or my alcohol consumption. I contacted my doctors because I was becoming more and more concerned. As it turns out I am having problems with my thyroid AND on top of that I forgot that I was losing lots of needed nutrients through my menstruls. I was bleeding for at least 4 months almost constantly. My doctors are trying to find out why now.

Since I started taking vitamins it seems that my hair has improved but I cut it off cause I was tired of looking at it...

Original Post: I have read a few post here and I decided to try my own regemine of things to improve my thinning hair.I saw the forum about Viviscal and i found the ingredients on a site. Some ppl swear by the stuff but others know its basically a supplement vitamin that you could buy in a supermarket for half the price of viviscal.

I am 31 years old today, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!! and I went and bought fish oil pills(taking 2 daily) and ginko bilbo(2 at each meal daily). I plan to buy an organic shampoo and conditioner and follow up with morning and nighttime sprays of a product called African Royale BRX Braid & Extensions Sheen Spray. Its good for the hair and scalp and has a lot of the natural ingredients that can help with hair loss (Tea tree leaf oil, sage, henna, burdock root, alfalfa, ginseng and many more).

I posted some pictures of my hair as it is now, dry and wet. I plan to submit other pictures as I see results.

I added a one a day vitamin for women and 500mg calcium pills. I also brought E-sen-cia shampoo and conditioner, its 95+% organic. Found it at Rite Aid.

Feb 2, 2010 I added Jojoba Oil and Tea Tree Oil to my African Royale Spray. I pray that I see some benefits soon. I will post new pics by March.

Please consider applying scented hair oil daily for maintenance and to keep it moisturized to avoid pulling it out when you comb or brush due to dryness, washing your hair once every 1-2 weeks but use tepid filtered water, and applying generic minoxidil for 2-3 mos. to reboot scalp health.

Its 2 yrs since this post and I wasn't seeing any results until this year. I went the doc, have a dermatologist appt in Feb but hoping they will tell me all is great now.

In December I started putting apple cidar vingar in my hair. I read that its a natural antibacterial agent. Since then I've added essential oils, vitamin e and aloe Vera. I've seen results and just this week noticed hairs growing in places that had been bald for yrs. If you're interested. I will post the recipe I am using. I am so excited to see hair buds!! Also I have a body massage wand and after applying the oil to my scalp I use the wand on my head too. Anymore questions?

Hi, I came across your blog and I was stunned at how similar my problem is with my thinning hair. In fact, our textures are really close as well, thinning pattern and all, and when I saw your pics, I thought, "That's me!" It's really stressful not knowing what the problem is and I know the stress is just making the matter worse but I can't help it. I was wondering if, even a year later, have you found out what the cause of your thinning was? If so, has your treatment of the spray been working for you? Would love to see and know of your progress if any... Thanks.
