INTRODUCTION TO YOGA AND MEDITATION

YOGA MEDITATION AWAKENING AND RELAXATION is focus on explaining what yoga and meditation are and how they can help us to develop awareness, concentration, relaxation, chakra vitalization, stress relief and how we can awake to a better understanding of life.

YOGA means UNION or to join (YOKE). Relaxing your body and making you feel better is not the objective of Yoga, but it does both of those things too. It has a superior objective: THE UNION OF THE SOUL WITH ATMAN. What is Atman? We will post that soon, please come back to check.

UNDERSTANDING BASIC PRINCIPLES!

Real happiness and peace cannot be attained by regular thoughts and feeling, but by means of a new way to think and feel. That is what all cultures taught in their wisdom. Modern life is too full of stress and peace is more than far from us and happiness too. How can we get this new way to think and feel? There is when yoga and meditation come to the rescue. Both are great techniques to achieve happiness and peace. Nevertheless, it takes time and effort as everything in life. Nobody can change just in a few weeks or months because we have a long time doing thinking and feeling the same way; plus we have made many mistakes.

Now days we see many places of yoga and meditation, but not all of them follow the main objective. Most of them stay in a safe area: Relaxing and feeling better. Some go a little farther teaching you to concentration, awareness and more; but a few teach you how to become one with your Real Being. Reason: It is not that easy, it takes a lot of effort and it might be lack of understanding or interest on the matter.

There are several types of yoga: Kundalini Yoga, Raja Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Karma Yoga, Backti yoga, etc. We will discuss some of those which have a real background in time and are not product of the market.

What yoga do we need to achieve happiness and peace? Well, we might need all of them, but we might start understanding and having an idea about the main ones. You can start with anyone, but we suggest starting with RAJA YOGA AND KARMA YOGA; LATER KUNDALINI YOGA, which is more powerful and require more discipline.

MEDITATION AND YOGA UNIFICATION

REAL YOGA IS DEEP!

Meditation is a practice which does not require movement. It is to develop relaxation, concentration, and deep interiorization. You must go deep down into your own psyche to find yourself and live the moment in the fullest expression.

Meditation is wonderful for self-knowledge! You can discover your inner forces and weakness; the control of your own mind and even the root of thoughts and emotions.

Yoga has many exercises, but meditation is part of yoga. Actually those yoga’s exercises must be combined with meditation. In other words, concentration and living the moment is important to practice yoga in a proper way.

When you combine meditation and yoga together (when you do yoga in a meditation state) you get the full benefits of both: Yoga and meditation. Then you can develop your inner energies and get rid of negative emotions and negative thoughts.

Yoga and meditation are really a need for the body and our soul. They both can help you to change your vibration and change it to a higher level of vibration. Both of them help you to live in harmony with nature and the universe. Both are great to achieve inner peace and calmness. Both feed our body and soul. Whoever wants a better life must practice either or both.

Someone with many years of practice is a real nice guide and by means of his/her knowledge and own experience can teach and guide you in the best way possible. Nevertheless, the best comes from the bests and the best are the Masters like Sivananda, Krishnamurty or even Yogananda and some others.

INTRODUCTION TO KUNDALINI YOGA

Kundalini Yoga, the Yoga of fire, is to develop the inner energies, the chakras and the main energy we have: THE KUNDALINI, which is depicted as energy trapped in the MULADHARA CHAKRA or Root Chakra. It is said to be in it oiled three times and a half. The Aztecs have several sculptures of serpents like that, representing the Kundalini.

The Aztec god of War, Huitsilopochlti is depicted with the Xiuhcoatl (THE SERPENT OF FIRE) and it has seven circles representing the seven main chakras which are in the spinal. For more about check THE MEANING OF THE SERPENT (Check for this below)

Kundalini Yoga is based and several exercises to develop consciousness, concentration, awareness, inner vitalization and of course physical, mental and spiritual transformation.

Sivananda, a great master, explains this great yoga on his book: KUNDALINI YOGA. Not everyone is able to teach and understand this yoga, as Sivananda explains in his book. Now days everyone seems to understand it and thinks he/she can teach it. Nevertheless, must people understand and teach just the basis and the superficial way of this great science.

It is really important to develop concentration and doing practices totally focus on the practice and not thinking of the problems of life.

Anyone can try to do the exercises and will achieve some results in the physical body, but the subtle bodies will lack the fruit of the practice, if concentration was not developed before doing the practices.

A person must learn to meditate first in order to get the most form Kundalini Yoga. So, RaJa Yoga is indispensable to get the best from Kundalini Yoga. We will add RaJa Yoga in another time.

KUNDALINI YOGA

KUNDALINI YOGA includes: Pranayama, meditation and different asanas to promote the vitalization of the chakras and the Kundalini.

There are seven main chakras:

The Kundalini is a special energy, the strongest, which is trapped in the Muladhara chakra and Kundalini Yoga and other techniques help to release it form it. The Kundalini develops from the root chakra to the crown chakra (Sahasrara) moving in the Shushunna nadi (A subtle channel which is in the center of the spinal). Two other nadis are Ida and Pingala just to the sides of the spinal.

Each of those chakras is supposed to free a superior capacity or sense like INTUITION, which is given by the anahata chakra.

The effects from working with the chakras and the Kundalini are multiple: Relaxation, concentration, spiritual and physical strength, better understanding of one-self, spiritual development, health or healing, etc.

Yoga is really important for the wellbeing, specially now when stress is so high in modern societies.

THE CHAKRAS.

NON-VIOLENCE, STRESS AND YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!

The word CHAKRAS means "WHEEL OR VORTEX." They are vortexes of energy. We are receiving energy from the Cosmos. Remember: EVERYTHING IS ENERGY AND THEREFORE WE ARE ENERGY TOO!

This energy coming from the cosmos is supposed to be kept into the Chakras in order to give us extra energy and live better. The problem is: CHAKRAS ARE NOT HOLDING THE COSMIC ENERGIES! Why? Because our chakras are not developed and we waste too much energy because of the way of life we have: TOO STRESSFUL!

Stress is, in modern times, one of the worst ways to waste energy. If we do not work with stress then our chakras will not work properly. Here is when MEDITATION COMES. Yoga without meditation is mere exercises, but YOGA IS MORE THAT MERE EXERCISES.

THE MAIN GOAL OF YOGA IS THE UNIFICATION WITH YOUR INNER MASTER (ATMAN). Please, check ATMAN AND THE SOUL.

Chakras are energetic anthems supposed to perceive beyond the physical body. The five senses are for the physical body, the chakras are the senses of the Astral body. So, we have five senses plus seven chakras, TOTAL: 12 SENSES. The ANAHATA has 12 senses and the philosophy of Jesus, as the philosophy of the yogis in India, is the philosophy of the heart, which has 12 petals!

The philosophy of the heart is: NON-VIOLNECE, which is tolerance, comprehension, love, etc. All great Masters spoke about the values of the Spirit. Our soul supposed to learn that in life; but usually that is not the outcome. Why? Because of the system: Economy, jobs, politics, etc. We really need a change is we really want our chakras to work. That change cannot come in a mechanical way, we must be aware of our own responsibilities. HAPPINESS, PEACE, HARMONY AND OTHER BEAUTIFUL THINGS IN LIFE, AS THE WELLBEING OF OUR PLANET, IS OUR RESPONSABILITY! Do not expect for people to help you to improve your spiritual development. It is your own responsibility too!

How can someone practice NON-VIOLENCE when that person is full of stress? No way, first you need to control stress, you need to control whatever triggers violence and stress is a real great problem! Please read: STRESS AND TECHNOLOGY.

Understanding the functions of the chakras will help you to reduce stress, but remember: NOTHING CAN REPLACE EXERCISING, SPECIALLY JOGGING!

Combining YOGA and meditation is the way to get the best from both to improve your chakras, your health, your concentration, etc.

KUNDALINI YOGA IS THE BEST TO DEVELOP THE CHAKRAS. NEVERTHELESS, IT REQUIRES MORE THAN JUST PRACTICING THE TECHNIQUES, BUT IT ALSO REQUIRES THE PRACTICING OF THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE HEART!

Now, let's study the chakras to comprehend all this better:

THE ANAHATA CHAKRA!

One of the main chakras!

We have seven main chakras:

SAHASRARA on the top. It has one thousand petals.

AHNA OR AJNA on the front head. It has two petals.

VISHUDDHA on the throat. It has 16 petals.

ANAHATHA on the heart. It has 12 petals.

MANIPURA on the navel or solar Plexus. It has 8 petals.

SWADISTHANA on the prostate for men and uterus for women. It has 6 petals.

MULADHARA on the coccyx. It has 4 petals.

Let's talk about the ANAHATHA CHAKRA:

Why is it so important?

Right on the center of that chakra is a star of 12 angles. It is made of two triangles. One is pointing out upward and the other one downward. The first one represents the energies or forces going to top. The latter the energies or forces going to the bottom. The heart or ANAHATHA CHAKRA is the vortex which unifies the energies of the universe. LOVE UNIFIES ALL FORCES AND ENERGIES OF THE UNIVERSE! actually, that chakra is right at the center. There are three chakras above it and three chakras below it. See? So, this chakra bring balance to our life.

We all are full of stress, one of the causes is the kind of life we have, but the main factor is: WE THINK TOO MUCH! It means we are using our head too much and we need to balance it with our heart: WITH LOVE!

LOVE IS THE MOST AMAZING THING IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE. THE ANAHATHA CHAKRA IS THE RECEIVER OF THAT FORCE!

How can we develop this chakra?

Well, there are some MANTRAS (Magic words) to chant: OM, for example. But the best way to activate this chakra is practicing CHARITY. We all worship money and we need it, but we need to think on other people needs too. So, we need to find out how we can help other beings. sometimes people need an advice, food, help, support, etc.

We need to think on other people needs and we need to learn how not to be selfish. The heart's philosophy is: LOVE OTHERS AS YOU WISH THEY WOULD LOVE YOU.

LOVE AND COMPASSION!

The power of the ANAHATTA CHAKRA comes from Love and compassion. Yes, we need a brain to develop and become intelligent; but we need a heart to become more human. We need a balance between our brain and our heart. There is one problem though... we do not use our heart and we use our brain all the time. So, the problem is WE ARE NOT IN BALANCE!

The whole planet is a mess. Why? We are lack of love and compassion. Violence is the outcome of anger and frustration. Anger and frustration trigger violence sooner or later. How can we stop this violence. Simple: WE NEED TO DEVELOP OUR HEART! How can we do this? We need Yoga and Meditation. We need to learn to relax and take things easier. There is too much tension and worries in modern societies. We need a new system based on love and compassion.

Love and compassion brings understanding, respect, tolerance, etc. They both bring peace! People want powers to control other beings, but they do not want to be controlled. we all want freedom, but how can freedom come when there is not understanding, respect, tolerance, etc.? The first thing is to spread these ideas to the whole planet. Eventually these ideas could be the base of a new education and finally the philosophy of all cultures. We really need a new system, but without a heart is not possible.

THE MAGIC OF THE ANAHATTA CHAKRA IS LOVE AND COMPASSION. A world full of compassion and love does not need anything else. a world like that can be real, but it takes everybody's concern. We need to promote yoga and meditation. We need to promote a new world based on compassion and love. PEACE, FREEDOM AND HAPPINESS WILL BE THE OUTCOME OF THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE HEART!

We need to start now. How? Learning to help each other. Looking for the well-being of other beings (animals and humans). WE ALL ARE ONE AND WHAT HAPPENS TO ONE OF US WILL AFFECT US ALL!

GUN CONTROL VS LOVE AND COMPREHENSION.

There are many school shootings around the world. The one in Connecticut was the last drop for many people and for the government. Now gun control might be more controlled. There are some metal detectors in some schools and some states are thinking to get policemen in the schools. I read a news about an eleven years old boy who took a gun to the school because he wanted to protect his friends.

Yes, we need gun control, but it will not fix the problem. Why? because in one way or another guns will be bought anyway.

SO, WHAT WE NEED TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM? SIMPLE: LOVE AND COMPREHENSION.

violence will make more violence. hatred will created more hatred. Repression will make more repression. So, love will create love and comprehension will make comprehension.

We are in a modern era. We are in the XXI century, but we had a full XX century which proved already that war makes war, but we want to continue with the same philosophy in this new era. The philosophy of violence and intimidation is obsolete. We need to face the future with new ideas. We need to get out of the box.

We need to spread the philosophy of LOVE AND COMPASSION if we really want a better future. otherwise we will not change the road we are going into. This old road is leading us to more violence end hatred and the price might be a huge war among all countries. the sad part of this is WE DEPEND ON THE DECISIONS OF A FEW. Nevertheless, we must let them know that we count not just when voting, but every single day. We have to take our tight to express our ideas and spread them to make a better world.

All teens and kids need LOVE AND COMPREHENSION. We need to teach them to respect, to love, to forgive, to share, to be peaceful,etc. Good values are better than repression. Yoga teaches us the way of the heart, the way of love. Yoga teaches us ETHICS, principles to live in harmony with the universe, nature and with our brothers and sisters.

WE REALLY NEED A COMPLETE NEW WAY TO SEE LIFE. BECAUSE BLIND PEOPLE CANNOT SEE WHAT THEY HAVE IN THEIR NOSE. SO, OPEN YOUR MIND TO NEW IDEAS IF YOU WANT TO SEE WHAT IS SIMPLE TO SEE.
