Benefits of Vitamin D-3

Your Body Suffers with out Vitamin-D3

Bet you didn't know that Vitamin-D3 is a very important vitamin needed! Do you constantly have aches and pain in your body and can't figure out why? All you want to do is Sleep and more Sleep because your tired and fatigued day in day out. You can almost sleep standing up. DO you have aches and pains in your joint's so bad you've decided to possibly consider having Fibromyalsia?

Always going to the doctor only to get medication prescribed that isn't working for you or giving you other symptoms? If so, then read further because you just might have a Vitamin D3 deficiency. I will show you that some or most of your symptoms can be helped with "Vitamin-D3".

I'm not a Doctor nor do I want you to quit any medication your Doctor has prescribed for you, BUT.......I am going to share with you a True story that has changed my husband's daily shoulder pain by simply taking Vitamin-D3. He didn't believe me at first especially after his Doctor told him " Last alternative is Surgery". I told my husband " Just take the Vitamin and be quiet, let's just try it for a week or two and see if the pain will stop".

Sure enough IT DID!!!!!!

It all Started with Chronic Shoulder Pain

True Story

My Husband started complaining about his right shoulder hurting daily and mostly during the cold winter months. He did nothing at home or work to strain or hurt it in any way. He could hardly lift his arm over his head. At night he couldn't sleep because the pain would wake him. He was Constantly tired and stopped doing chores around the house.

Every day he was taking over the counter pain reliever. Finally he made a Doctor's appointment. Which included for him to do an MRI, X-ray , prescription pills and received a shot in the shoulder. So for a week he was pain free until the pain moved and started on his Left shoulder. So now he was back to square one. I was at my wits end because I tried doing everything I could think of to make him comfortable. Massages were out of the question. Heat pads, cold pads, soft pillows, hard pillows, new mattress for the bed, this ointment that ointment nothing worked.

Believe it or not - one day (January 6, 2011) to be exact.

Something told me to research Vitamin-D3. I still to this day don't know why I did. After reading all I could. I bought a bottle of Vitamin-D3 10,000 iu's.

I told my husband " Here, take this". He laughed at me, Saying . " Now do you honestly think this vitamin is going to do any better than the medication the doctor has given me? This isn't going to do anything" - he said. I made him take 2 capsules everyday and asked him daily " How is your shoulder feeling"? His reply " My shoulder still hurt's, told you that vitamin wasn't going to help".

Then.........January 21,2011 two weeks later, My husband said " My shoulder isn't hurting today, it couldn't possibly be the Vitamin-D3"! I just rolled my eyes and turned away. It's been almost 5 weeks this Friday February 25th, 2011 and no shoulder pain. This is the Honest truth. He has stopped taking his prescription meds all together because he doesn't need them. He can lift his arm over his again, he's doing things around the house again, no more naps or pain. What a Blessing! How can a vitamin do this? Who would have thought it? Obviously the doctor didn't. Because most of them don't check for Vitamin D deficiency until a person is in their 50's or older. My husband was Vitamin - D deficient for at least the past 5 years and no one had a clue. Now we know why his arm hurt more in the winter than in the summer. He works outside and gets plenty of sun during the summer. You know that's one of the ways of getting Vitamin D is through the sun. By the way.... Within the 5 years he also lost a tooth due to bone loss. I bet that had something to do with his Vitamin D deficiency also. If I would have known about Vitamin-D sooner then maybe he wouldn't have lost that tooth.

Don't Wait till your in your 60's, 70's or older for a Doctor to tell you that your Vitamin-D level is low

You can save yourself now before you do...... get to Old!!!

By then your bones will be brittle, you'll be to weak to get around if you don't start taking it now.

When we get up in that age is when most Doctor's do recognize and test for Vitamin-D deficiency. Why they don't do it sooner, I don't know.

But they do know when you are that age you "will" need to take Vitamin-D.

Symptoms of Vitamin - D Deficiency

Most Physicians never check For Vitamin D deficiency. If you are experiencing some of the below symptoms, you might want to ask your Physician to check for Vitamin D defiency.

Vitamin - D is essential for healthy bones, lack of it can cause serious health problems. It is a fat soluble vitamin which is created by sun exposure. It's deficiency symptoms are:

Hair loss

Chronic fatigue

Muscle, Bone - Aches, cramps and pains

Psoriasis

Depression

Poor Concentration

Head Aches

Bladder Problems

Constipation

Diabetes

Heart disease

Muscle pain and weakness

Fibromyalgia

Teeth Loss

Rickets and osteomalacia are the classical vitamin D deficiency diseases

Fybromyalgia

There are a lot of people now a days that suffer with Fybromyalgia.

Isn't it ironic how the symptoms are the same as Vitamin- D Deficiency?

The Symptoms are:

* Chronic muscle pain, spasms or tightness

* fatigue and decreased energy

* Insomnia or waking up feeling just as tired as when you went to sleep

* Stiffness upon waking or after staying in one position for too long

* Difficulty remembering, concentrating, and performing simple mental tasks

* Abdominal pain

* Constipation alternating with diarrhea (irritable bowel syndrome)

* Tension or migraine headaches

* Sensitivity to one or more of the following: odors, noise, bright lights, medications, certain foods, and cold

* Feeling anxious or depressed

* Numbness or tingling in the face, arms, hands, legs, or feet

* Increase in urinary urgency or frequency (irritable bladder)

* Feeling of swelling (without actual swelling) in the hands and feet

Natural source of Vitamin D is the SUN

The best source of Vitamin D is the SUN. Due to the health risks we hear about Sun's ray's now a days. We tend to keep our bodies covered as much as possible while we are in the sun. You shouldn't of course bake yourself in the sun to get as much Vitamin D as possible!

A little a day should be considered. In now a days hectic work life most of us can't enjoy the suns rays so we have to find other sources for Vitamin D. That is when a good Vitamin D supplement should be taken daily.

If you are taking Medications prescribed by your Doctor for Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Be sure to tell him you are or thinking about taking Vitamin-D.

Some Medications contain Corticosteroids, Hydroxychloroquine and Plaquenil will prevent Vitamin-D from being absorbed.

Foods that contain Vitamin D

As you will see foods that contain Vitamin D are really not the foods we enjoy to eat. Is there any wonder that you might have a Vitamin D deficiency after seeing the listed foods?

Cod Liver Oil

Salmon

Mackerel

Canned Tuna Fish

Canned Sardines

Orange Juice

Milk, Yogurt

Margarine

Swiss Cheese

Egg Yolk

Liver-beef

Thus, this is why we move on to Vitamin Supplements. We probably only eat a few of these foods every now and then. Therefore we are not getting enough Vitamin D. This is something I never thought about in the past. I knew that Vitamins such as A, B, C etc, were important but I never imagined that Vitamin D had such a big impact on my body. Did you?

Vitamin D can help Fatigue-Reason #2

Are you always tired and sleepy? You might lack Vitamin - D

Do you find yourself still tired and sleepy even after you just woke up? Then, dragging on through for the rest of the day only wishing you could lay down somewhere to get some more sleep. No energy, can't think , concentrate, or remember anything, your head feels fogy and all scrambled up. You know your not a Lazy person but, you just don't have the mental and bodily energy to do anything about it.

You just might need to add Vitamin - D. If you aren't eating right then at least take a Vitamin Supplement. Also good to add is Vitamin B12,

Prevent heart disease and other conditions

Reason #3

Vitamin D is used for the conditions of the heart and blood vessels, including high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

It is also used for diabetes, muscle weakness, obesity, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, tooth and gum disease,

psoriasis, also helps in preventing cancer.

Lower your Cholesterol

Reason #4

Taking a Vitamin D3 supplement once a day can help lower your cholesterol.

Did you know that heart disease occurs because the heart muscle is not making enough energy?

What Doctors say about Vitamin-D - Reason #5

Just in case you don't believe what I'm telling you about Vitamin-D, thought you might want to hear it from a Professional.

What Doctors say about Vitamin D-3

Many People don't believe in Vitamins

Oh sure, people take their daily vitamin pill not really paying attention what these vitamins do for their body. Of course as anything else you shouldn't overdose on them. Taking the right amount can do wonders for you. Sometimes taking each vitamin individually is a little better than taking one multivitamin pill because, some of the other ingredients in them might not agree with YOUR body. There might be one or two vitamins that you might be allergic to. You might suffer constipation or diarrhea. If you start off taking them separately you will know which ones work for you and which ones don't agree with you.

Since this Lens is about Vitamin-D I will stick to that instead of going into all the others.

Recommended daily amount of Vitamin D3

June 2011

Most people need about 1000 IU to 10,000 IU of vitamin D3 each day.

The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for vitamin D3 varies with age, sex, and various medical conditions.

I started my husband on 10,000 IU for the first two weeks then lowered it to 5000 IU's and now he is taking 2500 IU daily.

Think you lack Vitamin-D?

If you suffer from any of the symptoms would you try taking Vitamin D to see if it helps you?

I was surprised when the doctor tested me and found that I was extremely low on V. D. She said that the body cannot absorb the calcium without the D. Now I take both.

Interesting. My husband is not overweight, recently he seems to be foggy and losing interest in lots of things. Went to his doctor and they told him he had high blood pressure. The day of his physical exam I suggested he ask for a D test. At first he refused, but finally agreed. Dr started him on blood pressure meds and called two days later with the D results. Husband is critically low in D. Dr. said to take 2500 per day. Talked to a nutritionist who said 10,000 for the first six weeks. Husband is already feeling better with less aches and does not seem as irritable and crabby. Some say D deficiency is linked to high blood pressure. He goes back for a recheck in six weeks. Very interested to see what his D levels are at and if they feel he won't need the blood pressure meds long term. We live in Michigan where many reports indicate the population is quite D deficient!
