St Patrick's Day Crafts - for Kids and Party Decorations
Make An Easy St Patricks Day Shamrock Decoration
The challenge was to come up with a St Patrick's Day craft. I decided it had to be completely my own creation (no browsing the internet or shop windows for ideas) and it had to be really quick and easy to make. It took all night, but here it is - my St Patrick's Day Shamrock for you. It's fast and simple and mess-free (no glue or paint). I hope you have as much fun making these as I did and wish you a Happy St Patrick's Day!
Supplies needed to make the shamrock
For the 8 - 10 cm sized Shamrock
~ Green Foil Ribbon (15-18 mm wide)
~ Stapler and green staples
~ Something to hang them with (fishing line, thread, gift wrapping ribbon, etc)
Cut 3 lengths of ribbon, each approximately 30cm long
Fold and Staple
Fold each length in half and staple parallel to the fold about 1cm from the fold
Bend, pinch and staple
Bend the two ends of the ribbon away from each other, all the way to the other side
Pinch them together approximately 6 cm from the bend
When you are holding all 3 together, staple them together
If this is too fiddly, staple each one separately, then all 3 together
Trim and hang
Trim the ends if you like on a diagonal
Attach hanging ribbon/thread through a loop in middle leaf
Now try the double shamrock - instructions below

For this variation, put two lengths together and continue using the two lengths just as you did the single length above. When you bend the leaf shape, make the inner one smaller.

Here is an example of St Patrick's Day framed wallpaper art for party or home decoration for inspiration from Lil Luna. I love green so this caught my eye, and I am imagining a grouping on the mantle or wall in a variety of tones and frame sizes. This is a good excuse to get lots of sample paint pots of beautiful greens (and wallpaper!)
I love this rag wreath. If you don't have suitable fabric scraps, you could use assorted ribbon, mesh or netting, or even plastic bags (or a combination of all!). This tutorial is from The Magic of Ordinary Things
Paper chains are a must. This picture is a fabulous example of how great they can look. I found green staples which make paper chain assembly even easier - of course you can always use glue or tape. This is definitely a project that the kids can help with.
Here is a beautiful bunting from Lil Luna herself. Simple and very charming, perfect for St Paddy's Day.
Finally, another delightful Saint Patrick's Day Party bunting project. From Sugar Tot Designs, this one uses free printables and looks super.
Thank you to Lil Luna for assembling and promoting these fabulous craft projects. Her blog is absolutely delicious!
