10 Cool Jack-O'-Lantern Ideas

Well it's that time of the year again, time to carve the Jack O' Lantern! So before you head out with your kids for trick or treating or to that neighborhood party pull out your pumpkin and get started. Check out some interesting designs, if your a novice like myself you may want to stick with the simpler designs. Possibly just a triangle eyes and a smiling mouth with a few stray teeth, but give the pictures a look. Maybe this is your year for some real ambition and creativity. Anyway it goes remember to have fun and get the kids or grand kids involved(if you have them).

THE BLACK CAT - A classic image to adorn on the Jack O' Lantern firmly rooted in the Halloween spirit. In this case anyone coming to your door will be crossing the black cats path so make sure you warn them. This design can be a little difficult if you are motor skill challenged like myself, my suggestion is to draw it out on the pumpkin and use a small knife. Take your time and don't rush for best results.

THE HAUNTED HOUSE (above)- Another iconic image of halloween lore and a mainstay for many horror movies. It can also be a little tricky and is one you will need to take some time to accomplish. I really like the bat isn't it a nice touch?
PUMPKIN FACES - There are many faces you could choose to carve. The best one I feel are the originals so fee free to make your own but if any of the ones to the right float your boat then by all means. Always keep in mind if you carve something simple but when complete decide to embelish or make it more detailed there is nothing wrong with that! From scary to silly there is no wrong mood or way to do it.
WITCHES AND WARLOCKS (OH MY) - Again a very familiar sit and costume on halloween, the witch, and sometimes Warlock. This witch may take some time to make same as others I recommend a small knife, time and patience. The one below of a witch stirring a cauldron of some possibly evil potion is a tad more advanced but will guarantee you will be the envy of all your neighbors on halloween night.

POP CULTURE & SUPER ART
If you are a true artist you may be in the mood for more advanced pumpkin creations. Pop culture presents many subjects to carve like this R2D2 model. Others I've seen include Harry Potter, Lord of The Rings, even music themed kiss Jack-O-Lanterns. Besides pop culture subjects there are extreme art that some people can pull off like the squash/pumpkin body below with squash worm erupting from his gut.
