10 Ways to Use Pumpkins
1. Food or Drink
There are many ways to enjoy pumpkins as an ingredient in different types of food and drinks. Pumpkin pie is one the most popular recipes, but there are hundreds more. Pumpkin bread, a pumpkin smoothie, pumpkin dip, and pumpkin pound cake are only a few examples.
2. Carved Pumpkins
Another traditional way to use pumpkins is to carve them with silly or scary faces. Also, you can pay homage to your favorite characters from movies, TV shows, or other pop culture references. An unconventional way to carve your pumpkin is to drill holes into them to create intricate designs.
If you don't want to carve your pumpkins, you can decorate them instead. Paint designs on them, including polka dot, chevron, or other patterns. Also, you can use glitter or glitter spray paint to cover the entire surface. These work well as table toppers or as inside decorations for a party.
4. Facial Mask
Puree the insides of your pumpkin to make your own facial mask. Pumpkins are full of vitamins A, C, and zinc which help to moisturize and soothe your skin.
5. Exercise Tool
Pumpkins can be used as exercise equipment instead of a medicine ball or weights. You can toss it back and forth with a friend, hold it high above your head, or use them as you would use hand weights during aerobic exercises.
Use a large pumpkin as a planter. Cut the top off according to the plant's size, hollow it out, and drill a drainage hole. Fill it with a potting mix and put the plant inside. Then place it in your garden or on your front porch.
7. Serving Bowl
A small pumpkin is the perfect size to use as a serving bowl for fall parties. Slice the top off to create a lid. Use an ice cream scooper to hull out the inside and fill it up with a dip or soup.
8. Animal Feed
Give animals a nutritious snack. Donate pumpkins to your local zoo or feed the squirrels in your own backyard. Put the pumpkin seeds in a bird feeder to attract birds of all kinds.
9. Pumpkin Seed Crafts
Use dried pumpkin seeds to create a collage on a card. You can also make a beautiful Christmas ornament by hot gluing them onto some pretty ribbon.
10. Fall Wreath
Use tiny pumpkins to create your own fall wreath. Purchase a foam wreath at a craft store. Use pumpkins, fake leaves, and other fall foilage. Attach these with floral wire and a hot glue gun until the entire wreath is covered. Hang it on your front door for a beautiful fall decoration.
