10 Best Easter Candy

Updated on September 20, 2013

Candy, Candy, Candy...

One of my favorite parts of Easter was my Easter basket. I looked forward to going through it and seeing what kind of candy the Easter Bunny had brought. There are so many kinds of candy out there it is hard to choose which kind is the best.

Here is a list of the 10 best Easter candy. The list of candy is in no particular order of preference and definitely not a complete list of candy available for Easter. I tried to choose some that have been around for a long time and add in some that might be newer or twists on a traditional. Some of these are not only good for Easter baskets, but also for putting inside of plastic eggs for hiding. I hope you enjoy...and maybe get some ideas for your Easter baskets this year.

You can't have Easter candy without having a way to share it with others. These candy dishes look like small Easter baskets, painted in the colors of Spring. They are not only cute, but whimsical looking. . Keep one or two of the candy dishes for yourself and give the others for a gift.

Cadbury Creme Egg

Cadbury Creme Eggs

One of my all time favorite Easter candys is the Cadbury Creme Egg. I think this is the candy I probably got the most excited to find in my basket. Although, I have found that either you love 'em or you hate 'em. There doesn't seem to be much middle ground. This chocolaty egg has a creme filled inside that is gooey and oh so good. If you are looking for a candy that will not make a mess, this is not the one for you.

It just wouldn't be Easter without a Cadbury Creme Egg.

An old favorite for many are Peeps. I can't say I particularly care for them myself, but I know many do. Peeps come in the traditional chick design and also in the shape of bunnies. Peeps not only are available in the traditional yellow color, but are also now available in colors such as blue, lavendar, and pink. For you chocolate lovers out there, there are also peeps that are dipped in chocolate and also ones that are completely covered in chocolate.

Milk Chocolate Hollow Bunny

Every Easter basket must consist of a hollow milk chocolate bunny. I was searching around for images and came across this bunny, which is identical to one I used to get as a kid. For some reason the hollow chocolate bunnies always tasted so much better than the solid chocolate ones.

Why does candy that is an old favorite always seem to test better when it's in a fun shape? I'm not sure either, but this list would not be complete without Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs. You have to love the creamy peanut butter covered in milk chocolate. Makes me want to eat one now.

Who doesn't like Pez? Even if you don't actually like the candy, it is always fun to play with the dispenser, but I think the fruity candy is pretty great too! For those who want double the fun, they have giant Pez dispensers too.

Growing up in England we always had large milk chocolate eggs, often filled with Mars bars, Cadbury Flakes, Kit-Kats etc. Those were the best. The only Cadbury Cream Eggs I still liked in the USA were imported from Canada. The regular ones are made by Hershey's and frankly disgusting sickly and nothing like Cadbury's. The real ones are too sickly for me these days, but nothing beats Cadbury's chocolate.
