10 holiday gift ideas under $50 - let me do the work for you

Finding gift ideas is tough enough but trying to keep to a budget of $50 or less is next to've scoured the internet like I have. This Squidoo article will guide you to some of the coolest gadgets and presents on the market, whether you're searching for that perfect Valentine's Day gift, Christmas gift, or birthday present. They're perfect for the gourmet or the techie in your life. And, some are much less than $50 so don't panic...

So, come along and find out what I've chosen as 10 gift ideas under $50.

#1 gift idea under $50 - Rechargeable batteries

You know that those electronic toys you just bought Junior are going to run you to the poor house when buying batteries so, voila - buy rechargeable batteries instead and you'll always have a happy child. Buy more than one set so that you always have extras charging and ready to settle that tantrum when a toy stops working.

Rechargeable batteries are also a great Valentine's Day present - albeit, not very romantic. Unless, of course, you buy something just for the 2 of you that uses batteries...

All are under $50 so you can treat that special teacher, nurse, or person in your life to some holiday cheer this Christmas season. For Valentine's Day, you can't go wrong with the Ghiradelli chocolate basket below.

These serving dishes are great for the host or hostess who loves to throw a Christmas or Valentine's Day party. Select different shapes and sizes for the most interesting gift.

I have 5 rescued dogs, 1 confused rescued cat and 1 even more confused parakeet so I love love when people give me gifts for my animals for Christmas or Valentine's Day (and the animals love it too!). The below are some of the most fun gifts that I've received.

For the baker in your life, a selection of holiday cookbooks

One can never have too many cookbooks - at least I can't. I use all of my cookbooks throughout the year but the holiday cookbooks are a lot of fun and give me inspiration to create my dessert shooters - small desserts served in glasses from 2-5 ounces. Check out my Christmas dessert shooter article for some inspiration of your own. Or visit my most popular dessert shooter article Dessert Shooters - the newest craze in mini-desserts.

The below are my favorite holiday cookbooks.

The Christmas Cook:

Three Centuries of American Yuletide Sweets

Christmas with Southern Living 2011:

Savor * Entertain * Decorate * Share

Cooking for Christmas:

I'm Dreaming of a Chocolate Christmas

Lion House Entertaining

I'd love to hear from you about your favorite holiday gifts ever (they don't have to be just $50). I'll tell you mine - when I was 6, my parents surprised me with my very first basset, Wrinkles. I loved that dog for 13 years and think of him fondly still.

Do you have any other ideas for holiday gifts under $50?

Great ideas. I wouldn't have thought of rechargeable batteries, but that's really a great idea.

      Well . . . since you asked -

My favorite was something my daughter put a lot of time and effort into... somehow, she managed to find me the right front wing of AJ Foyt's Indy Car ... complete with damage where he went into the turn 1 wall, and a letter of authentication. She went to a lot of trouble to find and get it, and that alone would lhave made it special, even if I weren't a huge AJ and Indy fan.
