10 of the Funniest SkyMall Gift Ideas

Updated on March 15, 2015

Give the Gift of Laughter!

For those who travel, SkyMall is one of the most entertaining magazines found in your seat pocket. You can find everything from dog anxiety polos to outfits for your car. Some of the products are useful, some are strange, and some are downright hilarious. These are ten of the ones found in the latest SkyMall Holiday 2012 magazine which I had to share with you. Just to let you know, none of these are jokes. All of them are actually available for purchase and may be just what you secretly have always wanted.

The Auto Outfit - Add Some Personality to Your Auto

I laughed so hard when I saw this. The description said over one million have been sold! You can add holiday cheer and expression by giving a special outfit to your car. Don't worry. None of these costumes will damage your vehicle but they will make you definitely unique. Imagine! You could go to work and amaze your boss with your car dressed up reindeer style. Nothing says I love the holidays like a reindeer nose on your car grill!

The Magic Wand Remote Control - Fulfill Your Secret Wand Television Fantasy!

Can't get enough Harry Potter? Dreaming of learning to do a jelly-legs jinx? Now you can perform your own wand magic on your television! I laughed about it but I'm being totally serious. You can flick and swish your way through all of cable, change the volume, and turn on the tv like magic. Not only will your friends and family be amazed, but you will also satisfy that secret desire to work magic like Harry Potter.

Flair Hair Visor! - Take That Hair Anywhere!

I couldn't stop laughing at this one. The advertisement reads..."It's a laugh a minute with this spiked hair hat" (Skymall magazine 2012 page 32). The hair is made with realistic spikes and come in a variety of shades and visor options. If your man loves to golf or just has everything, this is the visor for him! By the way, it is not only hilarious but machine-washable! So if you sweat under your realistic hair...it's no problem. Just wash, air dry, and whip it out for more fun!

Remote-Controlled Beverage Cooler - To Lazy to Get a Beer? Have it Come to You!

Why waste ten seconds walking over to a fridge or cooler for that cold drink? You don't need to anymore! Simply point the remote and bam! Your drink cooler comes to you. Want to take it with? The cooler even collapses for easy storage so you can bring it along for picnics and parties. All your friends will be amazed when you ask them if they want a drink and the cooler comes over! I love it, the whole idea which has been pitched by people to lazy to get a drink has finally been invented!

Food Pillows - Is that a large cupcake on your couch? Yes. Yes it is.

Have you ever wanted to fall asleep on a giant cupcake? ...not me but that doesn't matter. Now with food pillows you can fall asleep on your favorite food and wake up to the sight of it. I personally feel a little disturbed at the idea and a little less hungry but it is amusing. I have yet to see someone drooling on top of a large pizza pillow. Once I do, I will have to take a picture and share it with all of squidoo! Until then, I will just have to keep laughing and imagining.

Firefly Landscape Laser Light - 5 Minutes of Work Looks like a 1,000 Strung Lights

This product is just plain crazy. Laser and holographic technology projects thousands of single color lights all over your home. The appearance looks like the descent of thousands of "fireflies" and all due to one light staked in the ground. Using it saves holiday decorating time and makes your house looks like you spent hours doing the lights! Only one problem not mentioned. Your guests are going to realize it's not real when they step up the house and have fireflies projected onto them as well. So much for the hours of decorating!

The Singing Toothbrush - Two Full Minutes of Hit Song Brushing Fun!

I couldn't stop laughing about the idea of me standing in front of the mirror before bed brushing my teeth to Justin Beiber 'Somebody to Love.'Two full minutes of song helps you remember the right amount of brushing time or you can just sit there and sing along if you're having a lonely day. Just you and Lady Gaga cleaning your teeth to Bad Romance. Actually, the Bad Romance one has just given me a great gift idea for someone...hmmm.

The Singing Toothbrush Update! - and hello from Pirate's Fest

My friend, the one in the photo above, was so amused by me suggesting I get her a singing Lady Gaga toothbrush that she decided to give me one of my own. Yes. I now own a Lady Gaga singing toothbrush which can play either Bad Romance or Born This Way. I laughed, realized I really did need a new toothbrush, and have been using it since then.

Magnetic Can Cooler - No cup holder? No problem.

No cup holder on your tractor or lawn mower? No problem! You have a magnetic can cooler! This will keep your drink cool AND keep it in place on any metal surface. At first I thought, that's kind of cool. Then I realized, if it sticks magnetically so strong it won't come off if you travel up and down hills then....HOW DO YOU GET IT OFF? Which of course made me laugh yet again thinking of the excited man who receives it, puts it on his tractor, and can never get it off.

Custom Pet Portrait Canvas - A Truly Unique Gift

24x36 Hand Painted Custom Pet Oil Portrait Painting on Canvas From Your Photo(s) With Two Figures
24x36 Hand Painted Custom Pet Oil Portrait Painting on Canvas From Your Photo(s) With Two Figures

This one made me take a double-take (like the ad said I would), the one pictured had the bodies of 17th century dressed nobles with a pet's head on top. Think Napoleon's outfit with your dog's head in his place. Sadly, I could only find this amazon comparison which is not nearly as funny. The dog does not have quite the regal poise of a pet posed on the body of a king. O well. The whole idea still made me laugh.

I chuckled at this lens because I fly a lot and have seen all this stuff and thought, "Who comes up with this?" I still have a pillow that's shaped like a hamburger, fries, and a coke that my Grandma sewed for my uncle when he was a kid and I inherited at some point. I love that thing, but it doesn't sit out where the company can see it :)

Can't believe that there's actually a market for some of these products! I've never bothered reading any in-flight magazines before, but next time I'm on a plane, think I'll check it out just for a laugh. :)

Not sure if I'd be up to a singing toothbrush first thing in the morning though.
