Halloween Dip Serving Trick to Add More Festivity to Your Snack Table

Create a Pumpkin Bowl for a Fancy Way to Serve Your Halloween Dips
Create a Pumpkin Bowl for a Fancy Way to Serve Your Halloween Dips | Source

You can up the festivity for your Halloween party by hollowing out a pumpkin and using the pumpkin itself as your serving dish. There are a few tips and tricks to keep in mind if you do decide to serve your dip "pumpkin style."

1. Coat the interior of your pumpkin with vegetable oil before putting your dip inside. This will keep the pumpkin looking fresh.

2. One option is to place a small serving bowl inside the pumpkin if you are not comfortable with your food touching the pumpkin's interior.

3. Others recommend lining the pumpkin's interior with plastic wrap or aluminum foil so you can use the pumpkin more than once.

Spider Web Mexican 7 Layer Dip Recipe | Source

  • 1 lb Ground Beef or Turkey
  • 1 - 1 oz Packet Taco Seasoning Mix
  • 1 - 16 oz Can Re-fried Beans
  • 4 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 - 8 oz Container of Sour Cream
  • 1 Cup Guacamole
  • 1 Cup Salsa
  • 1 - 2.25 oz Can of Chopped Black Olives
  • 1 Cup Chopped Tomatoes
  • 1 Cup Chopped Green Onions

  1. A few items to assist you with this fun recipe are a piping bag, one or two plastic spiders, and 2 pie pans. (You can also substitute a plastic sandwich bag for a piping bag if you don't have one on hand.)
  2. 1. In a large skillet, brown ground beef or turkey.
  3. 2. Drain grease and add the packet of taco seasoning mix. (Many seasonings call for the addition of water, do not add water) Simmer meat for a few minutes more and set aside.
  4. 3. In each pie pan, spread a layer of the re-fried beans approximately 1 1/2 inches thick.
  5. 4. Spread an even layer of ground beef over the re-fried beans.
  6. 5. Carefully spread a layer of guacamole over the ground beef.
  7. 6. Add a layer of salsa over the guacamole.
  8. 7. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the guacamole. (2 cups per pie pan)
  9. 8. Sprinkle the tomatoes, black olives, and green onions over the shredded cheese.
  10. 9. Fill a piping bag or sandwich bag with sour cream. Create a pointy tip and cut off the end.
  11. 10. Draw a pinwheel on the top of the dip, starting at the middle, all the way out to the edges of the pie pans. Then draw large circles, getting smaller as you move to the middle to create a spider web.
  12. 11. Add one or two plastic spiders to your spider web.
  13. Place on your snack table with tortilla chips and let your guests be amazed at your ingenuity!

No Brainer Halloween Dip Recipe - Avocado & Salsa Dip Served in a Hollowed Cauliflower Head

  • 2 -3 Avocados
  • 3/4 Cup Chunky Salsa (Try to avoid runny salsas)
  • 1 Head of Cauliflower
  • 2 Tbsp Lime Juice
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Tsp Pepper
  • Fruit By The Foot Fruit Roll Ups

  1. To create the Cauliflower Brain Bowl:
  2. Begin by hollowing out the head of cauliflower. Cut out the stem and continue to scoop until you form a bowl. (Tip: If too much of the cauliflower breaks off, simply stick some of the pieces back on with toothpicks.)
  3. Then, cut off a strand of the Fruit By The Foot Fruit Roll Up, approximately 6 inches long. Cut the strand into 6 thin pieces. You will use these thin strands to create veins in your cauliflower bowl by draping them along the sides of the bowl, so they are hanging out. (See video above to see how its done.)
  4. To create the Avocado Salsa Dip:
  5. Peel the avocados and remove pits. Put the pits aside for later use.
  6. Mash the avocados in a mixing bowl until you create a somewhat smooth consistency.
  7. Add 2 Tbsp of lime juice, 1/2 Tsp of salt, and 1/2 tsp of pepper to the mashed avocado. Mix well.
  8. Then, pour in 3/4 cup of chunky salsa. Mix well.
  9. Ready to serve:
  10. When you are ready to display and serve your dip, place the cauliflower bowl on a platter. Then scoop the avocado salsa mixture into the hollowed out cauliflower bowl.
  11. Use your imagination for the special effects! Darcy in the video above suggests you take a piece of gauze sprinkled with red food coloring and drape it around the bowl. Then place the avocado pits around the bowl as well. She suggests they could look like eyeballs!
  12. Serve with tortilla chips. You can either place these in a separate bowl near the dip or display them on the platter with the dip.
  13. And there you have it! A spooky yet delicious Halloween dip!
