Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Happy Thanksgiving!!! | Source

Every year on the fourth Thursday of the month of November people in the United States come together to celebrate Thanksgiving - a time of praise and thanks for all that we have in our lives, all the things that we were blessed with, and all the things that we cherish in this world.

While not everyone can have a Thanksgiving feast fit for a king, people still celebrate Thanksgiving and are thankful for having good food on the table, for having a roof over their heads, for being healthy and happy, and for being loved and cared about, too.

I think everyone is thankful for all these things, regardless of how well off they are, and not just on this celebrated holiday but all year around. And that's the way that it should be... It shouldn't take a holiday like Thanksgiving for us to be thankful, no matter what we are thankful for. It should happen all throughout the year.

An Interesting Fact - Thanksgiving has become an annual tradition since 1863

Thanksgiving has become an annual tradition since 1863 and is one of the most popular and one of the most celebrated holidays in the United States.

People of all walks of life, of all cultures and nationalities who have made the United States their permanent home celebrate this joyous holiday year after year. They get together for a Thanksgiving feast that includes traditional favorites like roasted Turkey right out of the oven packed with delicious stuffing, mashed potatoes, roasted sweet potatoes, sweet potato pie, pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce, fresh baked rolls, and wine galore. These are just some of the delicacies at the big dining table that also include ethnic dishes if people are originally not from the United States. There's laughter, good times, lasting memories, and the gathering of all your special loved ones and friends under one cozy roof.

If you are planning to cook for Thanksgiving and invite your friends and family over for a feast but are not sure what to make or how to make it check out this Thanksgiving recipe book for recipes, ideas, tips, and advice you will find useful this holiday season...!

Thanksgiving Dishes in My Family

Since my family is originally from Eastern Europe, our Thanksgiving table, aside from the traditional Thanksgiving favorites, includes traditional Russian dishes that have been a part of our cuisine for generations. These dishes include Oliv'ye salad (potatoes, carrots, sweet peas, onions, pickles, hard boiled eggs, mayo), beet salad with prunes, shuba (layered salad of beets, onions, herring, carrots, and potatoes, topped with mayo), carrot salad with raisins, chicken liver pate, and toasted bread with sprats and melted cheese... We also have a dish of herring, onion and boiled potatoes, which is a favorite Russian staple. With so many delicious dishes at our table there are always left overs to enjoy the day after.

I love 'Thanksgiving Day' holiday. It is a good time to remind those who may not think about all the things we can be thankful for, to do so in that moment at least. It is a time to gather with friends or family over a welcoming feast of good food and fun. Although it should happen more than just on that day, often we are found to be so busy in our lives, we can't take time for it as we might like to other wise. Thanks for your spin on the holiday. Found it to be interesting, so voted it up. : )
