Valentine's Day rolls around each year. Fighting the crowd to eat out Valentine's Day doesn't appeal to me any more. I would much rather fix a nice fancy dinner at home. You will spend less than a dinner out, possibly have left overs, not have to spend gas to go anywhere, avoid the stress of waiting in line at any restaurant on Valentine's Day. Plus you get to spend some time
Shopping a few days before Valentine's Day, will help you avoid unneeded stress of the extra "traffic" in the shopping areas. Then you can be ready to go.
Getting some holiday themed plates would make for really easy clean up and allow you to spend time with the one that you love and not just spend all of your time in the kitchen.

On The Menu
I am going to provide in this hub a meal that I put together for Valentine's Day. It's always a big hit. I have also fixed this for someone else's Valentine's Day Dinner. Imagine the happiness on the face of the person that you tell that you are going to fix a dinner for them.
The following recipes are on the menu:
Special Green Beans or as they are sometimes called (Beans In A Bundle)
Crescent Garlic Toast
Golden Parmesan Potatoes
Baked Caramel Apples
A Dinner For Two
Special Green Beans or Beans In A Bundle
2 large cans of whole green beans
1 package of bacon, sliced, uncooked
Coat the green beans in Italian dressing. Then take a small bundle of the green beans and wrap them with one slice of bacon. Repeat with the green beans and bacon have all been used up. Bake the green beans seam side down. Put the green beans in a glass greased dish. Put it in a glass dish and cook at 350 degrees until the bacon starts to shrink. If needed, you can stick a toothpick through the bacon and beans to hold them together. You can then either remove the toothpicks before you serve them or you can leave the toothpicks in the beans and serve them that way.
This little green bean and bacon combination will absolutely become a fast favorite. This will be a side dish that you will reach for again and again.
Green Beans Are Healthy and Delicious!
1 tablespoon whole black peppercorns, crushed
2-3 tablespoons butter, melted
1-2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup red wine vinegar or beef broth
1 teaspoon ground mustard
1/2 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons cornstarch 1 tablespoon water
Rub pepper over both sides of the steaks. Refrigerate for 15 minutes. In an ungreased skillet over medium high heat, brown steaks on both sides. Add butter and garlic, cook for 4-6 minutes turning the steaks only once. Add the worcestershire sauce and cook for 4-6 minutes longer turning only once or until the meat reaches it's desired doneness. Remove the steaks and keep them warm. Combine the wine or broth, mustard and sugar. Add it to the pan. Stir to loosen the browned bits. Combine cornstarch and water until smooth and add it to the pan. Bring the mixture to a boil. Cook and stir for two minutes or until thickened.
This recipe serves 2 adults.

- 3 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon basil leaves, dried, crushed
- You will need to start by preheating the oven to 375 degrees. Separate the dough into eight triangles.
- You can line a pan with aluminum foil, (just be sure that you grease the aluminum foil) so that the bread doesn't stick to the aluminum foil.
- If you have a non-stick pan, you can use it as well.
- Generously brush each triangle with the salad dressing. In a small bowl, combine parmesan cheese and basil. Sprinkle over each triangle. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-11 minutes or until golden brown.
A second side: Golden Parmesan Potatoes
6 medium potatoes, cut really thin
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/3 cup butter, melted
fresh parsley, chopped
Peel potatoes into very thin slices. Combine the flour, cheese, salt, pepper in a plastic bag. Shake a few pieces of potatoes at a time in the bag and coat them well. Melt the butter and put it on the bottom of the pan. Place the potatoes in a single layer in the pan. Bake at 375 degrees for one hour. Watch the potatoes closely, depending on how thin they are will determine how long they need to cook. The idea is to turn them only once during baking. When the potatoes are golden brown, sprinkle with the parsley and serve.

Dessert for Two: Baked Caramel Apples
4 apples, cored
2 tablespoons, brown sugar
1/2 cup caramel topping
1/2 cup chopped pecans, optional
Place apples in a baker (a dish that you can safely put in the microwave). Sprinkle the apple with brown sugar. Top the apple then with two tablespoons of the caramel topping. If you want pecans, now is the time to add those to the apples.

Romantic Valentine's Day Dinner
Happy Valentine's Day
I hope that you do have a "HAPPY Valentine's Day". There's nothing more romantic to me than cooking with my sweet-heart on Valentine's Day. We both love to cook and we like to try new recipes as well. Steak is just known as a fancy romantic meal.
I hope that you enjoy the menu suggestion that I have brought together for you to try out. This has become a favorite of mine. Leftovers are good as well, if you don't mind eating leftovers.
Valentine's Day is meant to be enjoyed and spent with the one or ones that you love. It is not meant to be rushed through and hurried and not enjoyed like I have noticed the last 2-3 years have been. I am trying to make a conscious effort now-a-days to take the time with my sweetheart and show him how much I care. I hope that this hub encourages other couples to do the same.
