Autumn, the Beautiful Season
Autumn follows the Summer season,
which is preceded by Spring,
Winter then comes at the end,
with Its frost and cold days to bring.
My favorite time of the year is the Fall,
with Autumn days so clear,
Pristine skies so full of blues,
and its palette of colors are now here.
A brisk wind sends all the leaves,
to swirl and so cleverly, all to blend,
Then comes flocks of colorful ducks,
from their lofty heights to ascend.
In reds and golds, the trees all stand,
their garments full, in their array,
Creating carpets of such royalty,
while the squirrels in the trees, all play.
I love to bundle up in my warm coat,
by the lake on an autumn's night,
Then to watch the moonlight dancing there,
beneath the stars so bright.
To hear the call of a lonesome loon,
that echos over the wooded hills,
Gives one time to sit and reflect,
amid a night's coolness, and the chill.
The fireplace is a welcome sight,
as I come inside to escape the cold,
My rocking chair and a fine book waits,
with its story placed on hold.
The moon still shines high up in the sky,
as wild deer come out to feed,
In night time hours they come alive,
from their fears, now they are freed.
Tomorrow waits to show its face,
In the person of the sun, to soon embrace,
Another fine day will come again,
within the Autumn, and to find its place.
