Shower Ideas For A Baby Boy

When Mom is expecting a bouncing baby boy, you have lots of options when it comes to choosing a shower theme. In this hub, I've written about my five favorite baby boy choices. The bottom line is that there are many choices beyond the same old traditional blue, blue and more blue.

If you have a favorite theme that you'd like to share, don't forget to leave your comments and tips in the box at the bottom of this hub. I'd love to hear from you!

P.S. Check out my new monkey themed baby shower hub!

#1) Jungle Animal Baby Shower

Jungle animals and baby boys go together like lions and tigers. The King of the Jungle theme is one of my favorites and lots of online companies sell animal themed tableware with items like the ones shown in the photograph on the right. By incorporating the theme into the tableware, balloons and cake, your guests will surely have a "roaring" good time!

To make this theme work, consider making the shower area into a safari type environment. Play games like jungle animal charades or Name the Jungle animal babies. For food, a safari themed cake or cupcakes is essential. But also add in animal crackers and use animal shaped cookie cutters to cut-out your finger sandwiches. The possibilities are endless.

#2) Farm Animal Theme

With the farm animal theme, you have several options when it comes to the tableware. You can choose a more pastel pattern or you can go with a classic red, black and white color scheme like the one shown in the photo. The latter tends to work better when you want to decorate with farm print balloons or use a farm theme into the gift (e.g. the Playskool barnyard).

Incorporate this theme by making a pig or cow cake along with food shaped like farm animals. For games, consider a baby animals word search or name game. An old MacDonald themed welcome wagon or diaper cake would be an excellent gift choice.

Print & Play Baby Shower Games

For just $19.95, you can get this bundle Baby Shower Games. It not only includes 75 different baby shower games, but also baby shower invite and thank you card templates as well as planning tips, e-books, and more. It is a great deal for thrifty shower hostesses.

#3) Train Themed Baby Shower

Trains and boys go together so well that Carters baby has introduced an It's A Boy shower pack that actually features a train design as its central theme. You can decorate with a train going around the buffet table and the blue color of this pattern make it the obvious choice for a shower when Mom is expecting a baby boy. Be sure to get some coordinating train themed shower invitations and thank you cards.  NOTE - you can purchase the train deluxe party kit directly through Amazon - just scroll to the bottom of this hub.

#4) Sports Themed Baby Shower

If Dad is a sports fanatic, then likely the little boy on the way is already lined up to be a Little Slugger or All Star Football player. In either case, a sports themed baby shower is sure to be a hit or a touchdown with the parents-to-be.

If you decide to go with this theme, visit this Sports Baby Shower lens to get a wealth of information including ideas for games, decorations, baby shower gifts, and food with a sporty touch.

#5) Frog Themed Baby Shower

Frogs and snails and puppy dog tails....adding a frog-theme to a baby shower for a boy is an obvious, but fun choice. You can find many companies online that sell frog-themed tableware as well as baby gifts and diaper cakes that feature a frog theme. Incorporate some green colors in the food and you are all set.

For a wide range of ideas for this theme, visit this Frog Themed Baby Shower lens.  You'll find ideas for making your own frog-themed baby shower invitations, tips for froggy themed food such as cucumber lily-pad appetizers, rules for games like leapfrog, and photos and instructions for making desserts like frog eye cupcakes.  This lens is loaded with great ideas!

Cool ideas! We just had a shower for my soon-to-be-born granddaughter, and the theme was zebra and hot pink, which her room is decorated in.

My cousin did a duck theme for her baby shower. It was so cute! I've always liked the idea of a Winnie the Pooh theme though. Nice ideas here :)
