Buddha Cupcakes

"All that we are is the result of what we have thought" ~ Buddha Quote

Buddhism started with the Buddha. The word ‘Buddha’ is a title, which means ‘one who is awake’ — in the sense of having ‘woken up to reality. I strive every day to be fully awake and aware of who I am and be the most loving person I can be. I love the Buddha. I made Buddha cupcakes and want to share with all who are interested how I made them.

Items you will need:

  • 12 or 24 Cupcake Baking Pan
  • 24 Cupcake liners
  • 12 to 24 mini Buddha Statues
  • 1 small container of gold edible glitter
  • 1 small container of red edible glitter
  • 1 can of Vanilla Frosting (not creamy)
  • 1 can of Chocolate Frosting (not creamy)
  • 1 Vanilla or Chocolate Cake Mix

Prepare cake batter by following instructions on cake mix box. Be sure to preheat your oven. Place cupcake liners in baking pan for each cupcake. Bake cupcakes according to the instructions on back of cake mix box. After you have removed baked cupcakes from oven, let them cool for at least 20 to 30 minutes. Remove cupcakes from pan. Generously, spread icing over each cupcake using a spatula or butter knife. After frosting each cupcake, heavily coat the edible gold glitter and/or red edible glitter on top of icing. Please note I purchased the gold edible glitter and red edible glitter from I choose to sprinkle some of my cupcakes with just gold glitter, some mixed gold and red, and some just red. I chose to use Vanilla frosting on some of my cupcakes and Chocolate Frosting on the others.

After all cupcakes are frosted and covered with glitter, place a miniature Buddha into the center of each cupcake. Be sure to gently press the Buddha down so that it will set. After miniature Buddha statues are placed on each cupcake, place them in refrigerator to set.

Please note, I purchased the mini Buddha's from a local Chinese restaurant in the area where I live, however, they can be purchased on line for as little as six for $6.00 on or six for $9.99 at

These Buddha cupcakes are decorative, colorful and definitely a delightful conversation piece for any celebration or party.
