CHIKMAGALUR- WEEKEND HOLIDAY
I recently went for a weekend break to CHIKMAGALUR - about 250 km from Bangalore in Karnataka. To be honest, I did not have any great expectations and I chose this destinatiion simply because I had nothing better to do.
To my surprise, awe and amazement..... well..falling short of words - I was well and truly mesmerised by the beauty and the charm of this place. It was simply amazing !! Have already planned another trip in the very next month.. lol
CHIKMAGLUR is a place that is suitable for a weekend break as well as a long vaccation. I am sure that everybody would tend to agree after they read the following paragraphs and of course see the lovely photos.
Chikmaglur is a destination for adventure tourism, ecotourism as well as pilgrimage tourism. Here are the two key attractions -
COFFEE PLANTATIONS - This was the only thing I knew about the place before my travel. The coffee plantations are lovely. Big trees (sandalwood, teak wood etc) grow along with coffee plants which makes the place like a canvas with hundreds of shades of green. Tourists may choose to stay in the accommodation provided by many coffee plantations. The tranquility and the serenity is unmatched in such hotels/guest houses.
OXYGEN - My biggest attraction to this place was OXYGEN. Just after you get out of the Chikmagalur city and head towards the plantations , you may notice a hoarding which says - OXYGEN RICH ZONE...And what a zone it was. Greenest of green places where you could literally feel the extra doze of oxygen with every breath !! Truly rejuvinating.
Here are some of the places you must visit on your trip to Chikmagalur.
