Updated on December 13, 2016

The new year is upon us, which means on December 31, millions across the world will be ringing in the holiday attending parties, cracking open Champaign and kissing their significant others at the stroke of midnight. One of the most popular places to party is Times Square in NYC. Massive crowds gather to get a glimpse of the celebrities that attend this event with concerts, appearances, with fans hoping to get the chance to take a selfie with their favorite celeb.

Best Time To Arrive

Be prepared for a long wait if you are wanting the perfect location to see all the excitement that happens in Time Square on New Years Eve. It is advised to be there around noon on December 31st. Remember to dress for the occasion, as you will be standing for long periods of time. The festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. and end just after midnight after the ball drops. Keep in mind, there will be a lot of security, so take in a count this might delay you from getting to your desired spot.

What To Bring

Keeping in mind you will be there for several hours. Attendees are required to brink their own food and drinks, so be sure you have enough to last. Also, be sure you bring the appropriate jackets, hoodies, shoes, gloves and hats to protect yourselves from the winter temperatures you will encounter while standing outside. Do not bring items such as knives, fire arms or any other type of weapon to this event. Also, if you are caught with alcohol you will be ticketed and have to pay a fine.

The night is sure to be filled with music, meet and greets, celebrity interviews, surprise engagements and so much more. You never know who might show up and what surprises are in store while attending this massive holiday celebration. Be prepared for a party like no other, this is most likely a party you will never forget. So, enjoy yourselves and party all night long, in anticipation of the famous ball drop at midnight, ringing in the New Year!

What's better to help ring in the New Year than the sky filled with beautiful fireworks. Here are a few locations in NYC that will be setting off an array of colorful fireworks throughout the night.

  • Prospect Park
  • Brooklyn Bridge
  • NYRR Midnight Run
  • Times Square
  • A variety of bars that offer rooftop views of the fireworks

Safety Tips

Leave purses, bags, wallets and other important items at home or locked away safe in your hotel room. Even though we are all there to celebrate and have a good time, unfortunately, there are some out there that are not honest and will try to steal things that do not belong to them. It's better to be safe than sorry, don't ring in the New Year having to make a police report because your important possessions were stolen. Also, it is smart to stay in groups. Do not separate from your friends or family. With thousands of people filling the streets, it's very easy to get lost.

Have fun ringing in the New Year, 2017! Enjoy yourselves and stay safe!
