Celebrating our child's birthday

Updated on December 8, 2010

Happy Birthday!

A special day!

The proudest day of my life is the day my wife gave birth to our son. That day has forever changed our lives and no other day compares to it as that is the most joyous day in our lives. I remember it as if it was yesterday and with each passing year I look upon that special day with great fondness and many happy memories. It is hard to describe all the emotions and feelings you have when you witness the birth of your child as you look on as your wife nears the time she finally has the baby. For my wife I felt very happy as she was to be a mother for the first time. She went through the pregnancy with excitement, nervousness, pain, discomfort, anxiety, courage, compassion and finally joy. The miracle of seeing your baby born and taking it's first breath is a miracle that you will never forget for as long as you live. It is literally a life changing moment that really teaches you about life, love and responsibility.

Each year our child celebrates their birthday is another year gone by as we witness our child growing and developing right before our very eyes. It is unbelievable how fast the time goes by as we see our newborn go through the many stages of growth and development during their infancy and as the hours, days, weeks, months and years go by we see our child constantly changing and developing and approaching their toddler years and then their school years. It seems magical how they grow and how fast the time seems to pass by.

We sometimes wish we could slow down time as it seems to just fly by as we see our little baby growing. I remember when my son was just born and now he is just one year shy of becoming a teenager. I feel like his baby years are just a distant memory though it seems like only yesterday. It is essential that we find the time to spend with our children when they are young because once the time passes it can never be made up. We have to be very devoted to our children in their youth and set good examples and teach them to be good kids with lots of patience, understanding, love and confidence.

Birthdays are special for kids as they enjoy the attention and having fun parties with family, friends and classmates. It is also nice to have fun activities, lots of food and birthday cake. This is a simple pleasure for a child and we always want our child's birthday to be special year after year during childhood.

As our son celebrates another birthday we want him to always know how much we love him and are so happy to have him in our life and are so grateful for this special day in all our lives. Happy Birthday Matty, we love you always and forever!
