Chinese Zodiac Signs
Although I don't really follow or believe in these things anymore but when I was kid, I used love reading about zodiac signs and astrology stuff. For that reason alone, I decided to make my Chinese New Year hub dedicated to the Zodiac Calendar. Some people might wonder what exactly that is. Well, it's fairly simple. The Zodiac Calender, in the Chinese New Year, are a representation of cyclical time every 12 years, rather than the linear western style concept of time. Based on the cycles of the moon, while the Chinese animal signs are a 12 year cycle used for dating the years.
Chinese New Years usually falls somewhere between late January to early February. Although in 1911, the Chinese adopted the western linear style of calendars, but the Zodiac Calendar is still used celebrate the Chinese New Year.
Year of the Tiger
Years: 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022
Tigers are into deep thinking, and prone to be sensitive. Although they can be sympathetic, they can be extremely short tempered. Greatly respected by some, but Tiger's can have a bit of a problem with authority figures or the elderly. A bit indecisive at times, which can lead to some bad choices or too late to arrive at a decision. They can be brave and powerful, but suspicious of others. Most compatible with dogs, horses, and dragons.
Year of the Ox
Years: 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021
Oxes are prone to be patient, speak little, yet they instill confidence in others. Sadly, they can also be eccentric, bigoted, and have a short temper. Ox's have extremely fierce tempers, so they can be quite eloquent when they do get mad, since they don't say much. Both physically and mentally alert. Generally, they can be easy going, but they can be quite stubborn. Oxes hate to fail or be opposed. Most compatible with a Snake, Rat, and Rooster.
Year of the Rat
Years: 1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020
People born during the year of the Rat are recognized for their charm and appeal for the opposite sex. Rats are hard workers, while acquiring many possessions. Likely to be perfectionists, and very thrifty with their money. Rat people love to gossip and can be angered easily. Their ambitions are high and big, and often very successful in reaching their goals. Most compatible with Monkeys, Dragons, and Oxes.
Year of the Pig
Years: 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019, 2031
People born during the year of the pig are chivalrous and gallant. Putting all their energy into every task they do. Boars people everything is pretty cut and dry. There is no left or right, nor is there the notion of retreating. Possessing great fortitude and honesty. Although they don't have many friends but when they do, the few that are fortunate to be their friends find they are very loyal and often friends for life. Great thirst for knowledge, but they don't talk much. Pig people study a lot and are well informed. They can have a short fuse, but they hate confrontations. Kind to their loved ones, and often will try to work things out; no matter how severe the problem is. Most compatible with Rabbits and Sheep.
Year of the Dog

People born during the year of the dog are fortunate to possess the best traits of human nature. They have a deep sense of loyalty, and they're honest. Inspire confidence within others, since they know how to keep secrets. Unfortunately, they can also be selfish, eccentric and stubborn. They always seem to have money, despite caring little for wealth. Sometimes cold and distant in social gatherings. They can find faults in everything, and they're known for their sharp tongues. Natural born leaders. Most compatible with Horse, Rabbit, and and Tiger.
Year of the Rooster
Years: 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017, 2029
Deep thinkers, talented, and capable. People born during the year of the Rooster, like to stay busy, and go above and beyond to get things done. Often feeling deeply disappointed if they fail. Rooster people are eccentric, so they have difficult relationships with others. They often think they're right about everything, and annoyingly they are most of the time. They're loners and prone to be timid, despite their appearance of being adventurous. Like their fortunes, they're mood swings to be either very high or to be very low. They're always interesting and brave, but they're too outspoken and selfish. Most compatible with Ox, Snake, and Dragon.
Year of the Monkey
Years: 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016, 2028
People born of this year, can be erratic geniuses of the cycle. Clever, skillful, and flexible. They are remarkably inventive and original. Plus, they can solve the most difficult of problems with ease. There are few fields in which Monkey people wouldn't be successful. Sadly, they have a habit of being too agreeable. They want to do things now and if they cannot get started immediately, they lose faith and sometimes quit projects entirely. Great decision makers, but they tend to look down on others. Having common sense, great memories, and thirst for knowledge. Strong willed, but they cool down rather quickly. Most compatible with the Dragon and Rat.
Year of the Sheep
Years: 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015, 2027
Highly accomplished in the arts and elegant. Although Sheep people seem better off than the other people born on the other zodiac signs, sheep are actually highly pessimistic, confused about life, and can be shy. Timid about nature, but they're usually very religious. Sometimes, not very good speakers, but they're passionate about everything they do or their beliefs. They never worry about having the best in life, as they're talents tend to make money for them. Enjoying the creature comforts they like. Sheep are gentle, wise and compassionate. They are compatible with Rabbits, Pigs, and Horses.
Year of the Horse
Years: 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014, 2026
People born during the year of the horse popular, cheerful, perceptive, and skillful with money. They have a tendency to talk too much sometimes, and have a great weakness for the opposite sex. They're wise and good with their hands. Short tempered about everything, except when it comes to daily work. They like entertainment and love big crowds. Very independent, and rarely listen to advice. Most compatible with Tigers, Dogs, and Sheep.
Year of the Snake
Years: 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025
People born during the year of the snake say very little, but are very deep in wisdom. They're financially fortunate, so they never have to worry about money. Snake people have been known to be selfish, stingy, and often vain. However, they do possess a great sympathy for others, and try to help the less fortunate. Often overdoing things, as they don't trust anyone else's judgment, as they prefer rely on their own. Highly determined and hate to fail. On the surface, they may seem calm, but underneath they are passionate and intense. Usually snake people are very attractive, which sometimes leads to them having marital problems due to being fickle. Most compatible with Ox and Rooster.
Year of the Dragon

Dragon people are energetic, stubborn, short tempered, healthy, honest, sensitive, brave, and excitable. They inspire confidence and trust. Dragon's are the most eccentric of any in the eastern zodiac signs. They never borrow money or make pretty speeches, but they tend to be too kind hearted, which allows for others to have an advantage over them. They are compatible with Rats, Snakes, Monkeys, and Roosters.
Year of the Rabbit
Years: 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, 2023
People born during the year of the Rabbit are virtuous, articulate, talented, ambitious, reserved, and have great taste. Rabbits are admired, trusted, and often financially lucky. They love gossip, but they're tactful and generous. Rarely ever losing their tempers. Clever and conscientious when it comes to business, and never back out of any type of contractual agreement. Unbelievably good guessers for picking out the right thing, which would make them successful gamblers. Ironically, they seldom ever do gamble, as they're more conservative and wise. Most compatible with those born in the years of the sheep, dog, and pig.
