Easter is a time for kids to have fun

Easter is the time to really think about those wonderful Chocolate Easter Eggs. Yes I know they should be for the children, but what the heck; we need a bit of nourishment too. Do you agree?

This is another one of those times when the businesses put out all those tempting chocolates right in front of the checkouts. Just dying to see the kids whining about wanting one of those little bunny eggs. And the parents trying to stay calm knowing there isn’t enough money left this week for that type of extravagance.

Yes, I know it is another expense that comes around every year and with all the other expenses it is harder to keep the kids happy. I hope you realize you do not have to spend a fortune this year as here are a few ideas that can save you some hard earned money.

Involve the children in the fun of making their own Easter eggs. You can hard boil them in a variety of different food colors. Then let them be inventive in adding their own personal decorative touches.

Easter Bunny egg baskets

Neither do you have to go out and buy those expensive baskets. Instead make one from small cardboard boxes. Decorate them with pretty paper, and glue on a cardboard handle. You could even use old biscuit tins. Be creative and come up with different ideas.

You could lay some straw in the bottom of these. Then cut out some Bunny Ears from white and pink cardboard and glue these on the side, cut out another circle of white paper and draw on a face and glue little cotton wool balls on the side for their feet.

Fill baskets with eggs

Add a variety of the different colored hard boiled eggs. Then make it look more professional buy a packet of those very small chocolate eggs and mix these in between the others. You could even buy some of the gold coins to add another splash of color.

You could make a few of these and give away to people as gifts.

Chocolate Moulds

You could borrow some chocolate moulds from your friends and make your own personal little animal, fruit or whatever design chocolates of your choice. For that extra touch you could add fruit into the centers or almonds for something different.

Fillable Plastic Eggs

You may want to buy the plastic fillable eggs with M&M's or something similar

Buy Chocolate Gift Baskets

If you really want to splurge for that special person then by all means go for it. These can be bought online so you do not have to rush about looking for that special gift.

Special gift boxed Chocolates

These are really great for someone special. Buy ones with mixed centers, or a variety of flavors.

This will keep the kids busy for hours. Although you still need to watch that they do not eat too many eggs. After all we do not want them to get sick on this special fun day

Dont forget the Hot cross Buns

These days the day after Xmas the shops are bringing out the Hot X Buns. A lot of people dont like that idea. I love it because I always buy several packets and put them in the freezer for the unexpected visitor.,

Actually, I eat more than I give to my visitors though.

Do you make your own chocolates with the moulds
