The Best Quick Christmas Decorating Tips

Updated on March 21, 2011

If you only have thirty minutes this year to decorate for the holiday season, then you need a Christmas decorating tip or two that will take no time to pull together. Christmas decorating does not have to take a lot of time to look wonderful. It is all about having the right products on hand when you begin. Ask your friends for their favorite Christmas decorating tips, or use these to plan out your decor before you begin.

Thinking your decor through before you actual decorate is a great tip for the holiday season. You can think about your decor while at your child's soccer game, in line at the grocery store, or even on your lunch break. Think about small decor changes that will maximize your time. Don't worry so much about details, as they will be too time consuming for the person on the go.

One of the quickest ways to dress your sitting areas for the holidays is with holiday inspired pillows and throws. These items can be purchased and stored to use each year. Simply replace your ordinary pillows and throws for the holiday versions and you will be set. This simple task should take no more than five minutes of your time.

Another great way to dress up your home for the holidays is with a can of faux snow. Faux snow is best used on windows. You can use it indoors or outdoors. For best results, spray the edges of the windows to make it look as if the snow has packed itself naturally on your window edge. You can also use it indoors on mirrors for a festive look. This decoration is inexpensive and should take about ten minutes to use.

Collecting great one piece decorative items for the holidays is a great idea. One-piece villages are perfect for a table or a large mantel. Animated Santa that can stand around your home is also great. Anything that does not require any assembly is what you are looking for here. These items can be taken from the boxes and used as they are. You may need to fluff a few beards or straighten a few bows, but overall they are easy to work with. Using these items will take up about five minutes of your time.

Although you may think using items such as garland and ribbons take too long, you may be wrong. Getting ribbons with pre-attached ties on them are perfect for the time cruncher. Use these ribbons wherever you can. Rails on stairs are great as well as columns on the outside of your home. You can basically attach them to anything that will accommodate their ties. The bigger the ribbon, the longer the tie will likely be, so keep that in mind when purchasing. Attaching the ribbons will take about ten minutes.

Using this simple guide for a Christmas decorating tip or two, you can easily decorate your home in thirty minutes or less. Remember to plan ahead so you will have everything you need at your fingertips. Also, remember to keep everything simple to use. The easier it is for you to set it out, the less time it will take you to complete your decorating.

Good article. I love Christmas. I like what you say about thinking about your decor before you actually start the decorating process. Thanks for the pointers. Teresa
