Christmas Home Decorations

Updated on December 3, 2012

There is nothing nicer than having your home decked out in Christmas decorations that lets you feel that happy Christmas spirit, when, like a child, the coming of Christmas was an exciting event, something to spend months looking forward to.

Remember that Christmas smell of yesteryear which the pine needles from the tree spread through the house? When after dark you could just imagine hearing Santa's snowbells as he sped through the night, dropping toys and presents at each child's house? When you eagerly watched the skies for those first snowflakes that meant Santa's journey was being made easier?

Bring that sense of Christmas into your home this year with some of the finest and most Christmassy decorations money can buy,and all at reasonable prices.

Perhaps the family are coming round. Perhaps you are cooking Christmas dinner for all for them. Perhaps the family live with you.

Deck your home out with the beautiful Christmas decorations sold by Amazon, to add that extra special touch to your home this Holiday Season.

Outdoor Christmas lights look amazing when the whole house is lit up in a kaleidoscope of twinkling colors.

Attractive not only to children, but to people for miles around who will drive past your house just to see it in all its glory.

When I was a taxi driver, it was a fabulous experience to see a house full decked out in Christmas decorations and then lit up after darkness falls.

I, and many others too, for that matter, used to take the children along early evening just to gaze in awe.

What many householders that had their house decorated did was to place a collection bucket on the garden gate-post, for visitors to donate money to charity.

So not only did the decorated house bring pleasure to many, it brought much-needed funds to (usually) childrens' charities or hospitals.

Choose from lighting up your whole house, or making features out of garden shrubs and trees with this great range of outdoor Christmas lighting from Amazon.

With care, your outdoor lights should last for years and years, bringing pleasure to not only and your family, but friends, neighbours and strangers for many years to come.

The interior of your home deserves the best Christmas decorations too, and Amazon have a fantastic collection, starting here with little table centrepieces with a Christmas theme.

Lots of little light-up tabletop Christmas trees can make such a difference to not only your table, but odd little dark corners around the house.

However, at the prices here, you can see that that these tabletop centrepieces are designed to last, to be taken care of, and to be produced each Christmas year after year.

Delicately sculptured, these beautiful Christmas decorations are something you would cherish and are destined to become family heirlooms in future years.

Hanging Christmas decorations can make your home look like an Aladdin's cave of treasures.

Each of the shiny metallic colored balls or icicles or whatever design you choose is capable of reflecting or refracting the light into a magical paradise to delight not only the family but visitors too.

Whether you choose to put them all on your tree, or hang then from the walls or alcoves, these could make your home Christmas decoration theme.

You can just imagine yourself walking in a mystical, magical place with hanging Christmas decorations in place, lighting up dark corners and naturally drawing the eye towards them.

Else, like in the photograph above, you choose to decorate in a theme color. In the dining room especially, it is possible to create look that is chic and stylish by just using white and another primary color, whether that be blue or red or whatever your preference is.

The end result as you can see is fantastic. This type of Christmas home decoration looks fabulous no matter how old or new your house and furniture are.

Christmas tinsel, garlands and wreaths

Don't forget to buy the tinsel, garlands and wreaths that will add that special touch to your Christmas home decorations.

Tinsel looks great not only on the Christmas tree, but on the tops of wall pictures and ornaments, along the mantelpiece or above doorways.

There is no limit to your imagination as to where you can put tinsel, which is available in all the colors of the rainbow, as well as in any thickness, and adds that special touch as it reflects the light to create tiny colorful mini-prisms.

Garlands and wreaths too add that extra-special classy touch to your home Christmas decor theme.

Christmas lights designed for placing on windows make a really attractive feature.

Even if you don't put any other decorations up this year, a simple Christmas-theme lighting set can brighten your home, especially from the outside.

Of course, even if you are planning to have loads of decorations this year, a window light set will be like the icing on the cake - that final touch to cheer up passers-by.

They also look fantastic from inside a house where even if you have curtains closed over, the glow from the colored lights filters through, giving a lovely warm effect.

Christmas wall decorations look fabulous whether you are using them to hang your Christmas cards on or just to brighten up a blank space.

There is a superb selection of wall decorations over at Amazon and I have chosen a few here for you to browse through.

Colorful or shiny and bright, they are all guaranteed to delight children of all ages. Wall stickers that are reusable can be strategically placed can liven up old or plain d├ęcor.

Whether you choose anything from star displays to Santa's sleigh, Christmas wall decorations have a place in every home.

Children would have great fun putting them up too.

Delight the children with a climbing Santa on the outside of your home.

Even if you have no other lights outside, this climbing Santa is so Christmassy your children will love it, as will passing children in your neighbourhood.

This Santa is lifelike and is 4 feet tall. He comes with his bag of toys and is suspended on a 7 foot rope.. Fully weatherproof, his presence heralds the arrival of Christmas Day.

Merry Christmas Everybody!

You're welcome. The worst thing about decorating is having to take it all down again after Christmas! Still worth it though :)

I like the decorations. Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I decorate the outside more than the inside. I don't have much room so my decorating is limited because I don't want it to look like a junk pile. Than you for sharing.

Izzy my friend, you've outdone yourself. This is a beautifully laid out hub! I love the pictures and want those decorations. Little Drummer boy is my all time favorite Christmas Carol sung by Bowie & Crosby.

I used to love doing that, but now that I am in Spain, hardly anyone puts on a worthwhile display (the Spanish celebrate epiphany, not Christmas so much).

You get that special Christmas smell from a real tree, don't you? That's why I never minded the pine needles falling everywhere.

I used to love Christmas when I was a child and when my children came along the joys were renewed ,when they grew up Christmas lost its magic a bit,but now I have 6 grandchildren and every Christmas ,although busy with at least 15 around the table for lunch, including my 91 yr old mum ,we have a fabulous time....always a real 6ft tree ,there is something special about a real Christmas tree...and we always take the children to the Christingle service on Christmas eve.

Distinguished perhaps but still relatively unknown and penniless...

Should I do a special book promo for Christmas... a signed copy perhaps as a present for whoever. Or the complete trio for a Special price. signed of course.

      Hey Izzy,

Will you slow down Gal ! First with all the Halloween costumes and now Christmas....

I'm used to the supermarkets taking the lead on the run up to the festive season but even they usually let us have September...

I know the bloke in the shop downstairs has a 'Buy Early Sale' of Chrissie decorations but he's been trying to shift them since last November so he doesn't count.

I shouted at the local pub who has already pinned up his Special Christmas Menu and is taking bookings !!!

Can we at least wait until the cricket season is over ?

If you don't stop I'll start a hub on hot cross buns and Easter Eggs.

Yes Christmas decorations really do create a lovely seasonal atmosphere. When I see them in the shops coming up to Christmastime the decorations always get me in the Christmas spirit.

You have shown a wonderful selection of all sorts of Christmas decorations we can buy online.
