Creating Your Own Custom Baby Shower Invitations
If you have a creative bent, making your own custom baby shower invitations adds a thoughtful touch to the shower that the mom-to-be is sure to appreciate. Sometimes making your own can even be cheaper but it will be more time consuming for you.
Paper, Stamps, and Stickers
With a little bit of creativity, you can make your own custom baby shower invitations fairly cheaply and out of very few materials. Your local craft or scrapbooking store has a variety of paper types, stamps and stickers that you can use to make a truly unique invitation. It is best to either use cardstock or to tape paper to cardstock for the card so it doesn’t rip or tear easily. If your shower has a tea theme, you can find a lovely vintage looking paper to tape to cardstock and use teacup or teapot stamps or stickers to decorate it. Printing the invitation wording in a calligraphy type font also adds a nice touch.
More Than Paper
If you are willing to spend a bit extra on postage, you can create a unique invitation by sending an item with the card that has the shower details. It should be in keeping with the theme of the party but be something that adds a little extra touch. If the shower has a stork theme, you could send plastic eggs that have the shower details inside. Be sure to have a sticker on the outside of the egg with something like “Look inside the egg to find out who’s expecting a visit from the stork.” You’ll want something on the sticker to spark curiosity to open the egg.
A bookmark is a fun way to invite guest to “mark the date” for the baby shower. It can also make a nice keepsake. For these types of custom baby shower invitations, you’ll need some sturdy cardstock and nice paper or fabric to tape or glue to the cardstock. Laminating the bookmark can add an extra special touch. You can even get self-adhesive laminating sheets so you don’t have to buy any equipment. After you laminate them, you can punch a hole at the top of the bookmark and add a bookmark tassels to each one.
No matter what type of custom baby shower invitations you decide to make, be sure to allow yourself enough time to make them. If you’re pressed for time, try inviting some friends of the mom-to-be to help you get them done.
