Black and Hot Pink Theme Party

Some of the best parties are those that simply evolve. They don’t necessarily need anything more than good friends and the right atmosphere. Planning a lovely, coordinated room can set the stage for any number of things such as stimulating conversation, dancing, games or noshing on your favorite treats. When preparing your party space, consider what colors, textures, aromas and sounds will lend themselves best to the mood you’re trying to achieve.

Invitations

I’m a fan of using patterns and textures as accent pieces including on my invitations and I favor the classic elegance of damask patterns. Your invitations offer a first glimpse into your theme. Because your party’s theme is Black and Hot Pink, be sure your invitations specify if your guests are to dress in theme colors. It will add to the ambience in a way that won’t cost you a dime. Imagine guests in black tuxedos or sport coats with hot pink bow ties and cumberbuns and ladies in hot pink, black or crème colored evening gowns.

The Decorations

Flowers, napkins, tablecloths, candles, and other accoutrements can provide the perfect accents. Freshly cut flowers such as roses, carnations, calla lilies and gerbera daisies make lovely additions to your party table. Their effects don’t need to be diminished by ferns and baby’s breath, rather, placing a variety of long-stemmed flowers in clear vases suggests simplicity and does not detract from other accents on your table.

Using a damask table runner adds a classic touch of elegance. You may consider placing a hot pink tablecloth beneath a black and white damask runner or a white table cloth beneath a black and pink table runner. Whenever possible, use the same damask pattern as you used when creating your invitations. Your guests are sure to notice and appreciate your attention to detail.

The Food

Hot pink suggests sweetness and a sweet party calls for a one of a kind dessert bar. Cupcakes are all the rage and serving up chocolate cupcakes with hot pink and white frosting on a three-tiered tower will make the perfect centerpiece for your snack table. Other delicious treats include chocolate dipped strawberries; strawberry mousse served in chocolate rimmed martini glasses and lightly drizzled in chocolate syrup; chocolate fondue with pound cake, strawberries, raspberries, and angel food cake; and crystal bowls filled with pink and black M&Ms. Beverages might include espressos or espresso martinis; cosmopolitans; raspberry lemonade; pink champagne or other colorful beverages. Because you are going for a chic, elegant atmosphere be sure to serve drinks in glasses not plastic. Having wine charms for your guests to mark their glasses is a great idea. You may find those that fit your theme. If not, you can create them easily using plain hoop earrings and colored beads that can be purchased at most craft or bead stores where jewelry-making supplies are found.
