Cute Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Updated on March 9, 2014

What Would Mom Want?

What would mom like for Mother’s Day? If you ask, she’ll probably say, “Time with you,” or "Nothing, I have you.” It’s a beautiful sentiment – but it can make it hard to know what to get her! This year, get her something that shows her how much you appreciate her love and support. Here are some Mother's Day gift ideas to get you started.

Soothing Luxury

Pamper the special mother in your life by giving her a gift card for a massage, spa treatment, facial, or manicure/pedicure.

She will love the quiet, peaceful, and relaxing time to herself, as well as the thought you have put into it. If this is too pricy or Mom is not the spa type, assemble a spa gift with candles, lotions, body wash, bath salts, and maybe some tea or wine.

Fresh and Delicious

A great gift for moms who enjoy cooking is a miniature indoor herb garden. These wonderful, fragrant herbs can be clipped and immediately added to recipes for a burst of elegance and flavor. Kits often include basil, oregano, dill, chives, and parsley.

Another idea for the mom who is a magician in the kitchen, and a fashionista, is a sassy apron. While the word “apron” tends to conjure up unflattering imagery, today’s models definitely add spice to any recipe. There are lots of cute patterns with fun designs.

Flirty Aprons is one company that makes a wide variety of excellent designs.

Gardening Supplies

Mother’s Day is conveniently timed to coincide with beautiful, warm weather and the start of the growing season. If your mother enjoys gardening, assemble a gardening gift basket (or bucket or watering can) with gardening must-haves including gloves, hand tools, a spray bottle, and seeds. If you have a bit of extra room in the budget, include a gift certificate for an area nursery or store that sells plants.

This is a great gift for the mother of your children. Consider a necklace or ring with your child’s birthstone, a Pandora style charm bracelet that you can add to each year, or a Mother/Child pendant. Really any sort of personalized jewelry, she will love.

Moms also love it when their children make homemade pieces like button and mix-and-match bead necklaces. If you have a young child, help him/her make mom a special piece of jewelry for her collection.

Breakfast in Bed

Just don’t make it too early! Let mom sleep in and deliver her favorite breakfast to her when she’s ready. For the rest of the day, treat your mom to your best behavior and let her sneak in a nap!

Who wouldn't love the opportunity to catch up rest, and then have breakfast catered in to you? She will adore it!

Digital Picture Frames

These are wonderful because you can look at all your favorite pictures in a slideshow style or choose your favorite to display. They can be loaded with treasured photos, and mom can add to them any time she chooses.

Some of the digital frames now days allow you to sync your photos wirelessly. If you can afford it, do your research into these top of the line frames. They're wonderfully easy for Mom to load her photos onto.

Be Thoughtful

Use your imagination and your knowledge of what your mother likes. Make a basket featuring her favorite label or pick up a few bottles of locally made wine. Arrange with cheese and other goodies. Does she love to shop? A gift card would be perfect. Does she love to exercise? Give her an iTunes card so she can download motivational music.

Now, what does any mother not want for Mother’s Day? Anything that has to do with cooking, cleaning, and other chores is out of the question! On this special day, mothers want to be appreciated; sure, they drive kids all over and wipe up messes – but they also gave you life! It is the thought that counts; so make sure your mom knows you think of her as a special, incredible woman, not a chauffeur, a maid, or a cook.

You do not need to spend a fortune; most mothers don’t expect anything large or expensive. They hope for a gift from the heart, so do put a lot of thought into your choice.

Great ideas - I'm sending the link to my husband! I would love to receive anything on this list, but especially a spa basket. I am long overdue for a soak in the tub!

Great ideas, one of which I do believe I'll use on the 13th. You did a great job of constructing this hub; very pleasing visually.
