In every part of country, Effigies of demon Ravana, kumbhkaran and Meghnath are made. The preparation for making of these effigies starts one or two month before beginning of the navratri festival. Some family in India are doing same work of making the effigies for generation. They get good money for that. When Dussehra comes, they get very big orders of making effigies of Ravana from every part of the country.

Why Dussehra is celebrated?

Lord Krsna incarnated as lord Ramchandra along with his 3 brothers laxaman, bharat and shatrughan in 5114 BC. He was married with Sita Devi, the daughter of king janaka sitadevi.Later demon Ravana abducted Sita Devi by cheating when sri rama was in exile with his wife and brother Laxman. Lord ram fought great battle with Ravana to acquire his wife Sita Devi .

Elder brother of demon Ravana kumbhkaran and son Meghnath had also fought from side of his father. At last Ravana was killed by Lord Shri ram.

This day is celebrated today as Vijayadashmi festival to mark killing of demon Ravana by Lord Ram. Later great sage valmiki written Ramayana the Indian epic.
