New Decorating Idea For Christmas

Yes I have seen ornaments hanging in the Motel Ballroom at Christmas time or in a local Christmas shop for sale, but this year it became my new way to decorate And I am crazy in love with the idea!

What am I talking about? Let me explain!

The Decorated Nurse's Station

My Mom lives in a Memory Care Facility. As I visited her each day before Christmas, I observed the Christmas Tree emerge and beautiful decorations placed meticulously on walls and tables. They transformed the living areas into a Christmas wonderland!

One day I arrived to see the nurses station had been elaborately decorated with silver and white Christmas ornaments, snowflakes and a beautiful strand of blue mesh complete with three large bows. This decor completely covered the ceiling area over the desk. During the night hours, a volunteer blessed the community with her time and talents!

Christmas Decor

My inspiration for Christmas this year was to hang ornaments on the front porch. I purchased a package of adhesive hooks for mounting and found a reel of brown ribbon for hanging the ornaments. Using 10 ornaments, half of the ornaments had slightly shorter ribbon. the other half were longer lengths of ribbon. The long and short lengths were alternated.

I liked the results so much that I will probably expand the idea next year! Maybe I will add a garland or drape some cloth with the ornaments. Hanging icicles might add a nice touch.

Ornaments In The Trees

Perhaps you have a neighbor or friend who has large Christmas ornaments hanging from a tree in their front yard. The very large ornaments can be difficult to locate, but are becoming more popular and should be easier to find in years to come. The idea of hanging ornaments outside is gaining in popularity.

Our street had several yards with ornaments hung from various trees, blowing in the wind. These decorations can be seen during the day. Most of the trees are bare in December allowing the Christmas decorations to stand out against the bare tree limbs. Occasionally you can find an intact bright leafed tree decorated with Christmas bulbs. They are beautiful to see!

Christmas Next Year

My challenge next year is to expand on this creative decorating idea. Perhaps I will shop early and find the larger Christmas ornaments for our large oak tree. I may even add some hanging ornaments inside the house over the dining room table! I have a year to figure it out. In the meantime, you may find Easter eggs in my tree this year! Look out world!
