Decoration Ideas for a Football Party

Updated on March 12, 2011

Are you planning to host a football party this fall or winter?

Whether you're holding a get-together to watch your favorite college or professional football team play a game or if you're planning a get together in honor of your child's participation in a football team, you'll want to make sure that your home is properly decorated for the event!

Football Party Decoration Ideas

There are many fun, easy, and affordable ways to decorate your home for a football gathering. A few ideas you may want to try include:

Novelty Lights

Team logo novelty lights are a great way to set the stage for a fun football gathering. Hang team logo or football shaped lights around doorways, window casings, and other areas as appropriate for the layout of your event.

Wall Décor

Decorate the walls of your home with football theme banners and wall hangings. If you have a favorite professional or college team, or if you are honoring your child's sports team, consider displaying decorative team pennants, posters, stickers, and other items on the walls. Additionally, you can decorate the room with garland in colors that match the team's logo.

Party Favors

There are many fun options for favors for a football party. Consider handing out novelty football helmet clappers or pom poms, so that guests will have an easy time cheering on their favorite team during the game. You can also provide guests with coasters or huggers that feature your favorite team's logo. They can use their gifts during the party, as well as keep them to use in their own homes.

If you want to dress up the table where refreshments will be served during the party, consider choosing a nice floral arrangement topped off with a balloon shaped like a football or that features the logo of your favorite team. Alternately, you can use a real or decorative football the focal point of your table.

Serving Pieces

Food is always a focal point during football theme parties. Purchase serving plates, bowls, and cups that feature your favorite team's logo, along with color coordinated forks, spoons, and knives. If you plan to host a lot of football theme parties, you may also want to invest in a few football shaped chip and dip serving pieces or trays that can be reused. You might even want to consider getting your own goal post cooler for serving beer and soft drinks.
