Donut Birthday Cake Ideas
I am so excited to share a very Unique take on making a Birthday Cake. Personally this is new to me and I came across these recently while doing some Birthday Party Cake research. Now I am a big fan of Cupcakes at Birthday Parties and the use of a Cupcake Tree, but I never even thought of creating a Birthday Cake from Donuts.
I am so excited about this idea and and I will definitely be making a Donut Birthday Cake for my Husband's Birthday since he reminds me way too much of Homer from the Simpson's and we all know he loves his donuts. Shhh don't tell him. Seriously though - who does not love Donuts?
So I am going to share some Donut Birthday Cakes others have created and when I make mine you know it will be featured here as well.

Creating a Donut Birthday Cake
Creating a Donut Birthday Cake could not be any easier to do. I think the hardest part about making one will be deciding what flavor donuts you want to use. Do you just love the idea of no baking?
I think with Donut Birthday Cakes it is all how you stack them really. Yes you can also add some extra decorations if you like, but you can also get nicely decorated Donuts and not have to do that either.
You can even use tiered Cake Stands or if you want place them on your Cupcake Stands instead of the Cupcakes. How fun does this sound? Maybe it is just me I get easily excited about things like this.
Think of how happy you can make a Krispy Kreme Donut Lover or one who loves their Dunkin' Donuts. These Donut Cakes are for any age and just scream FUN.
Krispy Kreme Donut Cakes
So as I was saying - Krispy Kreme Donut Lovers would welcome their Birthday Cakes to be a big pile up of their Favorite Donuts. The pictures to your right are some creations made using Kripsy Kremes. I do not know where I have been and why I have never seen these before, but the possibilities for Donut Cakes are endless.
I did not grow up eating Krispy Kremes and do not have any near me, but I do know that people go CRAZY for these donuts - so what a great way to celebrate on their birthday.
Do you know they have Banana Donuts? WoW - I am behind on Donuts Huh?

What a SWEET Story
Now this is a SWEET Story. This couple got married and since the Groom has a lifelong obsession with Krispy Kreme Donuts the couple decided it would be most appropriate to have a Krispy Kreme Doughnut Wedding Cake. I love when people do creative things out of the ordinary and this is great. I bet their wedding cake was the talk of the party and it looked great.
In addition to the Wedding Cake they made a similar Kripsy Kreme Birthday Cake for their Child's First Birthday to carry on the tradition.. Now that is just adorable and look how pretty with the ribbons and Butterflies.

It is all about Stacking
I really like the way this was stacked and maybe also because it uses some of the Eclairs (The Long Donuts) and some Donuts cut in half. Very creative in the way it was put together. My husband loves Eclairs so I may have to lean towards a design like this one when I make his Donut Birthday Cake.
This Donut Birthday Cake was actually made for a 5 Year Old girl who insisted her cake be made of Donuts. So her mom did what we all do and gave in to the request, but instead of sticking a candle in one Donut she created this cake which made one little girl very happy.
She also shares Step by Step Directions on how she put it all together and you can see that here:

Donut Bunnies made by Me
So I started this page right before I was doing My Easter Baking and I thought to myself after I saw the Donut Snowman that I could play off of that and create Donut Bunnies. So I did just that and they are too cute. They were fun to make and the limit to Donut creations is only your imagination. They are great for an Easter Party or to Celebrate Spring.
If you want to Step by Step Directions on how I created the Donut Bunnies - they just go here:
I could not forget about the Giant Donut Cake
You did not think I would not add in the Giant Donut Cake did you? The Giant Donut Cake is also fun for Birthday Cakes and has been used quite often to replicate Homer's Donut. mmmm Donuts.
To make a Giant Donut Cake you can bake your cake in a Round Ring Cake Pan - which is similar to a Bundt Pan, but nice and smooth like a donut.
Or Williams-Sonoma Carries a Giant Donut Cake Pan Set that gives both the Top and the Bottom.
Creating your Homer Donut Cake
If you are looking to make a Homer Donut Cake it is not too hard to do at all. Just bake your Giant Donut Cake in one of the pans I suggested above. Make sure you tint your frosting PInk - hat is Homer's favorite. Then add some Sprinkles and top it off with a fun Homer Simpson Figure and there are so many to choose from. See Easy !!!
