Celebrate Easter with Egg Hunts, Coloring Eggs and The Resurrection
Easter is about a new life
Easter represents more than collecting colorful eggs in a basket.
Easter is all about new beginnings. Many celebrate Easter with the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Others celebrate with Easter egg hunts, Easter baskets, and coloring Easter eggs.
With the arrival of spring flowers and warmer weather, Easter is more than filling baskets with colorful eggs and Easter bunnies.
It represents new life.
Little White Church
Easter celebrations around America include Easter Egg Hunts and church attendance.
Many still dress up at Easter in fine dresses and Easter bonnets to wear to Church. Family gatherings include ham dinners, Easter baskets, and coloring of Easter eggs.
Easter comes at a different time each year, falling on a different calendar Sunday.
Catholics enter the Easter period with Ash Wednesday. It represents the season of Lent, 40 days leading up to Easter Sunday.
A week before Easter Sunday, they celebrate Palm Sunday with traditional palm branches during services.
However the big celebration for anyone who believes in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is Easter Sunday. A day that every believer celebrates.
It represents new life, new beginnings, grace and forgiveness.
It is the most celebrated worship service besides Christmas. More people attend church on Easter or Christmas than any other time of the year.
Easter egg hunts
For myself, I remember growing up finding the Easter eggs around the house. It was tradition, the egg hunt followed by a basket of candy. I kept the tradition with my children.
The nice thing about Easter, it falls in Spring when the weather is generally warmer. Good for egg-hunting.
Easter an important holiday
But Easter is more than colorful eggs, it marks the biggest celebration in any Christian's life. For a person who believes in Jesus Christ, the death and resurrection represents a time of celebration.
For the Christian, Easter is the most important holiday. It means we have a promise of eternity, of an everlasting life. Jesus died at the cross to bear the weight of our sins. He became the bridge for us to cross, over the great chasm. He leads the way to God. His promise was resurrected with Easter.
Each year Easter offers life once again to anyone and everyone.
Easter brings us a promise of hope and ultimate love. The love that God gave to us. For God so loved the world, he offered His son to us, in order that we may have new life.
So when you are coloring those Easter eggs and preparing to hide them for the children, remember to hunt for the real treasure. The treasure of everlasting life. The miracle of resurrection.
The Easter Miracle.
To Be Born Again
"Being "born again," is a matter so mysterious, that human words cannot describe it… Nevertheless, it is a change which is known and felt: known by works of holiness, and felt by a gracious experience. This great work is supernatural. It is not an operation which a man performs for himself: a new principle is infused, which works in the heart, renews the soul, and affects the entire man. It is not a change of my name, but a renewal of my nature, so that I am not the man I used to be, but a new man in Christ Jesus." – Charles Spurgeon
