FUN! What did you do that was fun today?

Updated on September 16, 2015

Fun Undone

Fun undone's not fun.

Why skip the fun of today?

Look around. It's here!

Who is having fun?

Can you tell who is having fun, and who is not?

Making fun? Making ho hum? Making glum?

Today's my day.

It's not over yet,

Maybe it's just begun.

What will I do with it?

Act, or be acted upon.

Will I get hurt today?

Probably I won't.

Some go around hurting themselves.

That's not me.

The world has billions of people.

Most don't even know I exist.

Some who do know me, actually like me.

Some who don't know me, wish they might.

Even "sight unseen" that's true.

They want a friend like me.

Even if they already have lots of friends.

I am unique. Those folks have their eyes out for me.

I don't talk too loud.

I don't hog folks' attention.

I have had experiences they've never had.

We could have a great friendship.

We could talk until the sun comes up.

We could just hang out.

We could walk and talk.

We could just smile until laughter breaks out.

We could cook for each other, simple stuff.

I could burn the toast.

You could nuclear the eggs.

I could write you love notes.

You could write me back.

We could look at the stars and spin dreams.

We could watch the sun set and describe where it is coming up.

I could imagine your next costume.

You could imagine me wearing funny glasses.

I could take your picture in your favorite pose.

You could draw my portrait and we could laugh.

We could share our favorite jokes.

I could whistle a tune for you to name.

You could try flirting with your eyes.

We could read each other's favorite story.

You could describe your favorite relative.

I could mimic a movie star.

We could pretend we are steering a boat in a storm.

You could tell me a made up secret.

I could tell you when I was most afraid.

We could make secret wishes and tell each other.

You could imagine our visit to a secluded beach.

I could describe how to ride a horse.

We could imagine life 25 years from now.

You could describe eating cotton candy at an amusement park.

I could tell you about when I was a lion tamer.

We could watch some children at play.

You could tell me of an awkward moment.

I could tell you of one of my lucky breaks.

We could decide to always live life this way.

Or we could play cribbage and eat watermelon.

Dear Ann, That's exactly my idea of a good life: a fun life. That doesn't mean that there aren't things in life that are serious, or that I don't take such things seriously. Fun = Family United Nonsense.

What a great list! I love having fun with anyone but when I act like a kid and my grandchildren say, "She's wicked, grandma, isn't she?", that's the best! If you can't have fun, you're not living.

Have a fun day, a fun week... a fun life!

      Ann

Deb, Right you are. Let's give as much thought to the breaks from reality as we do to reality's problems.

That is why I enjoy a writing silly limericks once in awhile and getting out in the garden.

Getting needed exercise can be enjoyable, at the same time we know our health depends on it. some benefits are 2 for 1.

It is so necessary to take a mental health break from reality and just enjoy ourselves.

Blossom - My roof just channeled 150 gallons of rain water (and then some) to barrels designed to keep some of the rain. But that is the first real rain we have had this summer! It is true, as Californians know, we need the rainy days, so much so that we appreciate them, too.

I guess that just as we need rainy days for the farms and our gardens we need rainy days that are dull and grey in our lives, too. They're probably good for us, but I much prefer those sunny ones with a gentle breeze.

tirelesstraveler - Took my sweetie to KFC tonight even though the house is full of food. No cooking, no dishes, time to spend with each other.

Laughter and fun make for healthy relationships and people. Great work.

BlossomSB - A day with no fun, is like a day with no sunshine, no breeze, all gray all day.

It's important to have fun, as well as the serious stuff - as they say, 'all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy' - and that goes for Jill, as well.
