Christmas Lights to Music Videos

Updated on October 16, 2011

Christmas Light Displays Go High-Tech

When I was little, my family always took a drive on Christmas Eve to look at the Christmas lights in the neighborhood. We'd "ooh" and "aah" over each of the displays, which at that time consisted mainly of strings of multi-colored lights strung along the house eaves.

Over the years, holiday decorations have become more elaborate. Now as you drive through many neighborhoods during the weeks before Christmas you'll see lighted reindeer, giant inflatable Santas, LED Christmas trees with spiraling lights, sidewalks lined with huge candy canes, and a whole cast of snowmen, cartoon characters and other Christmas icons decorating front yards.

Keeping up with the Joneses is getting ever more difficult. The latest addition to the holiday decorating trend is setting Christmas lights to music. And we're not just talking about playing "Frosty the Snowman" with a string of blinking lights. These computerized Christmas light shows are elaborate displays of synchronized music and light. They're an art form unto themselves. And people love them.

Here are a few videos showing some of the best holiday light displays featuring Christmas lights to music.

Love all these videos! Actually as I was watching them, I realized the house in the 2nd and 4th video is the house that we went to see last year which is about 20 minutes away from where we live. Thanks for the entertaining hub!
