Gift Baskets for Any Occasion!
Do You Love Getting a Gift Basket?
Are you one of those people who love making gift baskets as much as you love receiving them? Most people seem to really love a good gift basket!
Some gift baskets, really show they have just been thrown together. Items placed that have only inexpensive products, not much thought or time was put into them. When a person receives a gift like that, they are not, too impressed. Gift Baskets like this may result to an inward frown, than a happy glow.
If you are looking at making, or even buying a gift basket, find items that your receiver will love. Things that reflect their personality, or collectible items. When having another person or a florist arrange your gift, include some hand picked specialty items. This will be helpful, and make the job of the gift maker, much easier. It is those items that you've included that really make the basket. You know the person, better than the gift preparer.
When I put together a gift, it is like a piece of art to me. Much thought and time is put into, giving a person just what they want. It is so great, to see the heartfelt warmth flow from their hearts! They are receiving a gift that shows, much thought, and effort. This makes them feel extra special and extra loved!
For adults, I like to always include a candle or candles, silk flowers, candle holders, or a plate for a single candle. When including matches, make sure to write inside the match book cover.."Never leave a lit candle unattended."
In the winter time, most people like to receive, hot chocolate, tea, mocca packets, allate' packets, or creamers. One item you might want to include is, some chocolate covered spoons for stir sticks. Make sure when picking out even the packets, that you pick quality items that they don't normally have in their cupboard. Elegant packaging, helps to make the gift basket classy. If you know your color and theme, you can pick tea's or hot chocolate packages, that are in that color scheme:)
Making gift baskets, is a work of love. There is not allot of money in it, for the time it takes to run around and to have the variety of items you need for different baskets. Speaking from experience, I had a busy business, yet when I figured the costs of gas, delivery, packaging, inventory and time to put it together...I wasn't making much money.
For me the reward was seeing the look on a persons face, when they received their basket:) This warmed not only their heart, but mine. It also scored points for the person who ordered the gift basket!
Putting together these works of art, were a challenge to me. It was fun, to coordinate the items with the person, and to reflect their character style!
Color was just as important! I learned from a good friend of mine, that gold adds richness to your gift.
When choosing your items, if you put things that have some weight to them, people feel that you spent more money for their gift. Don't think this means you have to buy a bunch of expensive items. As shown in the pictures, a bottle of sparkling cider or wine, can really add some weight, glasses or mugs help too.
Speaking of wine, if you were to be in business, putting together a gift basket with a bottle of wine, you would have to have a liquor license. If you are putting this together yourself for a person over 21, there is no worry.
I recommend with most of the gift baskets, to include chocolate, silk flowers or things that have flowers on them, candles, a hand written card, tea, and popcorn.
There was a time my baker friend made a bunch of baked goods. Cookies, and small cakes were wrapped in nice cellophane bags, with a gold twisty on them. I had put together a big basket of these baked goods as a thank you to a mechanics shop. Wrapped it and put a nice bow on it. They were not expecting this, they almost seemed in shock, trying to hold back from jumping for joy. Their mouths were watering over this gift basket. I am sure they couldn't wait for me to get out the door, and dig into those goodies:) The basket felt like it weighed over 20lbs. More work went into the baking than the basket in this case.
Excuse me for going on and on about baskets, like I said before they are fun!

The item you choose, to place your gift in, can be a signature piece. Items with a purpose or that can be used in your friend's home is a great idea. As for stuffing, you can use: packing paper, peanuts, shredded paper, or tissue paper work well.
Tissue paper, as shown in the pictures, can make a really nice accent. You can find this decorative paper, at the dollar store. Sometimes you can find some nice glass items and bath products here too.
There is so much you can do with gift giving. The options are almost limitless! If you really want to go all out, deliver your gift basket in a tuxedo! If you don't own one, maybe you can pay a friend to deliver it for them. It is amazing what kind of reactions you get, by going to this extra step. People act all nervous, everyone is whispering I wander who that is for. I had people years later, raving to the gift purchaser, about what an impression that made on them, to receive a thank you gift in such a way.
I hope there was a new idea, sparked in your mind, that moves you to want to get creative!

Presenting Your Gift
How you put together your gift basket, makes all the difference in the world. Think about different heights when putting your gift together. The wrap: make sure you use a nice bow, it will cost you more to have nice ribbon, but it is worth it.
When it comes to adding a bow for a mans gift, think about these colors, they are striking together: Black/Silver, Black/Gold, Black/Blue, Gold, Silver, and even Black/Maroon! These colors are very classy and add a richness to your gift.
Thinking about men...another option that works great is to use a nice manly looking box, or a tool box. Especially if you are giving some hand tools to a man, a tool box is nice. What man can't use another tool box.
Pictured here, are some gift boxes done with tool boxes. The men that received these gifts, were so appreciative! Included in these boxes: quality screw driver, 2 tie downs, note cards, homemade cookies, box cutter, small book, and sparkling cider.
