A Gift Idea For Teacher

Updated on August 31, 2012

Gift Idea For Teacher

There is an increasing tradition of buying a gift for teacher at various times of the school year, whether that be at Christmas or at the end of the school term. Gifts do not have to be big ones but a gesture to show appreciation of how your child has been taught by them is always appreciated by the teachers.

However, having done a bit of research on what is the best gift idea for a teacher, it seems that there are a lot of teachers out there with a bunch of unwanted gifts. These gifts are either then regifted to friends and family or put in a drawer where they are left, or in some cases even thrown away.

It can be very difficult to choose a gift for a teacher if you don't know the teacher of have any idea of their likes and dislikes. Although a bottle of wine can be great for one teacher, it may not be suitable for someone who doesn't drink.

Many teachers have said that their favorite gifts come in the form of personal or handmade items that don't cost very much and where it is really the thought that has been out into it. So a great thing to do may be to make a card to give to your teacher and tell them some good things that they have done for you over the time that they have been your teacher. This is something that the teacher can look back on and feel proud of their achievements.

Thanks Jamie, I'm not sure I would agree about wanting to be a teacher but I do agree they are a special breed of person.

My son isn't in school yet but I think a nice handmade card with a gift card would be nice. Teachers are really special people... I still wish I had gone to college to be a teacher. oh well :0/

I agree with what you said. But the best gift that my students will give me is their utmost attention and absorption of all the learning that I wish to be inculcated in their hearts and mind. I mean, virtually ALL of them, not just the few interested ones.
