Halloween, Is It Just Fun?

Updated on October 19, 2011

Halloween, Is It Just Fun?

Just picture Jesus coming to your house

And He was wearing a mask upon His Face,

With a candy bag clutched in His Hand.

Surely Our Savior would be so out of place.

Then imagine Him with ghosts and goblins,

Such a strange sight we would never see

Then why are we teaching our children

Things we know are unpleasing to Deity ?

There is nothing there to give Him Glory

Nor is there anything there we can Praise.

We must know that in this world of evilness

That this is truly one of the devil's days.

Help us to teach our children of Salvation

Help us to .teach them to kneel and pray

Let us teach them all things right and good,

Show them You are the One True Way.!

I don't know how or why it was started,

But from the beginning it was not right..

Halloween is from the power of darkness,

But Jesus is Truly Love,Peace and Light !

Back when I was a child, which has been

many years ago,we would go around to

our neighbors for trick or treat, back then

neighbors knew each other and their

children , we threw some corn and a

few windows were soaped but no one

thought about it being evil. It was just

fun then but the times have changed

and so have people. Now they get in

cars and go to other towns besides

their hometown, They don't just throw

corn now but destroy a lot of things,It

is not just children that go but adults,

too. I have heard that some places

they call it the devil's night.I believe

that is the appropriate word for

Halloween anymore!

We went out in our neighborhood and got treats, we also threw corn and soaped a few, very few windows , It was not like now. nobody would have ever thought of giving candy that was unsafe to eat and the parents did not have to worry about their children then, but times have changed , some places in the USA they burn houses , autos and everything else they can think of to cause damage.too bad things have got to the stage this world is in now. Thanks for following me ,Clara

Again a great poem! I never understood Halloween and even as a child I felt as though there was something sinister in the air around that time. I have heard of many things done on Halloween and it seems to me that evil is no longer keeping to the shadows.

I am so glad that you thought to share your work on HubPages!

I don't know where you live but I live about 10 from a city of about 40,000 people , We get a daily newspaper and

it seems like every day it is nothing but bad news there. My son is a mail carrier and he tells things that goes on there that is never in the paper or on TV,he said it would probably scare people so much if they knew all that really happens,I grew up in that town

we would walk through alleys to get to the next street not anymore , it really isn't very safe walking on the main streets now.I don't know if most areas are like that now but I know that ours is not a very safe place anymore.Thank you for your comment I appreciate it.Clara

clara, i understand how someone can look at the world and think there is more evil. i think if we looked at the world and saw the beauty and joy there is, the world would be a far more lovely place than it already is. and, you're right. i honor your opinion. and i am sorry i lost my brain for a minute there. i wish you light and love.

I am sorry that I said things that would make you so upset,Like I said years ago it was entirely different than it is now, it was an innocent time for children but not anymore, I am sure that you know how much more evil times have become it seems like every year there are more things happening that night than any other,You have your point of view and I have mine but everybody has a right to think what they want to, that hasn't been taken away from us yet. clara

Clara, I agree that Halloween is definitely not what it used to be! I see nothing wrong with little Children collecting candy treats supervised by Parents, however, some people have become so evil that the treats they give are laced with straight pins and harmful substances to hurt the little ones. I have heard too, that in some rare cases little Children have been killed and sacrificed to the evil spirit. Some people have turned Halloween into an evil thing. Good trick and treats are a lot of fun for little Children regardless to the origin of the day, however, a Christain and I would not think a good moral Pagan would approve of some of the evils that are done on this Halloween Day. Therefore, I don't feel the day itself is evil but the way some people celebrate it can be evil and leave much to be desired. Clara, my Friend, your Poem is a good message to be taken seriously. Tessie

OK, you're missing one big piece of information. Halloween is not, nor has it ever been, a Christian holiday. It is a Pagan holiday with its roots in Irish and Roman traditions. But like everything else from the Old Ways, Christians came in like a swarm of locusts and converted everything into their's. Like a toddler who sees a toy they want, they saw it, they took it. So don't sit and whine about how this holiday is not pleasing to the your God. It was never about your God. It's about our ancestors and honoring those who have come before us. Please do a little research before you go shooting your mouth off.
